It's about the journey. When looked through glasses of the past, we see where our losses also served a purpose in our lives. If we allowed them to, they changed us. Made us better. Life just works out. I've heard it said that we play to win the game, and even if we lose, we appreciate just being on the field.

Yes, we can choose to become better. They can change us for the better. We can honor them by choosing to keep our hearts open and by remaining grateful for the gift of the experience and for all that it has taught us.

Our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance - Garth Brooks

I am not competitive by nature. For me "winning" holds no value and I'm happy just to play. But I have a child who is ULTRA competitive. Everything is a competition. Every.single.thing. He by far has the highest highs and the lowest lows. His excitement can be exhilarating but exhausting at the same time.

At a casino I budget $50 or $100 a day to play on and that is my play money. If I win, great, if I don't, I think of it like playing to go to an arcade, I still had fun.

I don't understand not being competitive. It's just not something I can understand. In any way. I am so competitive. I hate losing, though I'm not a bad loser. But holy shit, I'm a bad winner. You don't wanna lose to me! :D However, it is all in good fun. Mewstly. I love shit talk.

I love playing games. Sports. Board games. Not video games though. But whatever it is, I want to win. And I play to win. But when I lose, I look over my performance. A lot.

I was a somewhat professional athlete up until last year. So, I would evaluate my performances after. Think about what went wrong. And how I can get better.

^^ Great quote even though the coach's mouth would make a sailor cringe. And maybe he shouldn't of got a little physical with one of his players.
Is it legal to reply to your own posts?! ;)

Had my hand on the citation book but released it. I see no harm in repositioning a previous post.

WWF (World Wanking Federation) is not a recognized/sanctioned sports organization.

I'm not competitive, but I do enjoy playing games and some sports, and I get that the goal is to win. I'm definitely in it for the experience, though, not the win. I'm happy to win and I'm okay to lose.

I feel bad admitting this but obviously not bad enough to keep from doing it- I have actually been engaged with ultra competitive people and lost on purpose because I felt bad not seeing them get something that they wanted so much. I'm rather torn on this. It's not such a noble thing to do. I mean, it's dishonest and inauthentic, but darnit, the disappointment some people feel when they don't win. Ugh... :(

I have done this as well. I am really good at chess, played a lot as a little kid, then in clubs as I got older. It was never something I enjoyed per-say but it was important to my dad, and it was easy for me, so I did it. The first time I met FIL hubs(then BF) mentioned I played chess. I beat him easily and he was furious. Threw the board, screamed at me kind of furious. I guess he didnt take to being beaten by a 16 yr old girl. The next time we played I threw the game. It was WAY easier to lose than win and deal with the drama.

Some men just need to have their ego's stroked. I think in general men are more fragile than women. Not in the physical sense but in the emotional/ego way.

LMAO

I'd happily lose to you at chess. Strip chess, even better ;)

?? Is that even a thing? You would be naked by the time I had your pawns unless you were dressed to go snow skiing.
its like drinking games....you can make ANYTHING strip if you try hard enough....now I would love to play strip CAH with some of you lovely ladies ;)

...and that would be an acceptable start to the evening... Round 2 is Scrabble... :D

No way jose. I have a math brain not a word brain. I would be naked three words in.
