All of the candidates are awful and none are qualified to be President. I could probably vote for someone LIKE Trump, but he is just a dangerous buffoon. If he would just turn it down and be more reasoned, he would appeal to many more people. I think he has the intellect and talent, but not the personality. I don't know what to make of Cruz. His fixation on religion does not appeal to me. He's also bellicose and so disliked, that I doubt he could assemble a team of experts willing to help him. Hillary is simply utterly despicable. She is absolutely un-trustworthy and that disqualifies her. Plus, she is incompetent. That leaves Bernie. I disagree with his positions on almost everything. As far as I could tell though, he does have integrity. Even though I disagree with him, I believe he is honest. Since I have to vote for SOMEONE, that's why I'll vote for him. I believe his policies will fail spectacularly. My hope would be that people would realize how awful the liberal policies are and that would open the door to a republican administration in 2021.
There's got to be someone, somewhere who has the best interests of ALL our citizens at heart. Someone who would not divide us and pit us against each other. That ominous attitude of "Elections have consequence" is totally un American. A President should rise above politics and accept that he/she is leader of Democrats AND Republicans. This slate is disappointing to the majority of American citizens. My feeling is that Hillary is the favorite, but even her most ardent supporters don't really like or respect her.

I have been saying for some time, "This is the best the two parties can give us? Of all the millions of possible people who can run for the presidency, this is who we have to choose from?"

Yes, I realize on occasion a third party candidate is on the ballot and I do vote for them if only to help their party get votes which should, in turn, make it easier for more third parties to be on the ballot in the future. But this doesn't help the fact the two main parties are choosing shit for candidates.

Based on what I'm seeing, the sentiment is true: We're getting the government we deserve.

My single vote for Dr Jill Stein, Green Party, more than outweighs tens of thousands of votes that aren't cast. I am responsible for my vote when I cast a ballot, and I take advantage of all the mute suckers who boycotted the polls.

But it is my duty and responsibility to choose one out of the several candidates. I wouldn't trust any of them to run a piss-up in a brewery, but which is the least worst?

That would work. Put all the politicians in a big room and say pick a leader. Then they present their choice to the people. Who can then vote Yea or Nay. If Nay they have to go back and try again until they get one that wins.

The French seem to operate that system for Presidents. The French National Front gets too many votes in the first election which eliminates minority candidates, so all the other parties, left and right, vote for the candidate who is NOT National Front.

And they end up with President Hollande. Doh! His popularity rating is 24%.
