The other band members and fans must really, really hate Wes Scantlin.

They're still agreeing to show up for gigs while he fades away right in front of them, in a manner more obvious than Scott Weiland and Layne Staley, combined.

At this point, the fans seem like they're coming just to harass him.

They're not duty-bound to stage an intervention, but this is giving him gasoline and a lit match. Assholes, the lot of 'em.

Being a nice guy or a white-knight doesn't increase one's chances of getting laid.

Getting into a fist fight with your lady on a busy California highway doesn't exactly endear people to you.

i don't recall even one song by them. like at all. that should probably tell you something.

Yeah well things like that are over looked these days, if his music career fades he could try for an NFL contract.

They had that 'she fucking hates me' song, otherwise nothing I can remeber all that well.

I kind of saw them as a weak version of Seether.

Agreed. If only nickelback would self destruct.

Or perhaps they did.

Saw them live because the wife wanted to go, Chad was so drunk it was ridiculous.

He already has health issues so maybe they won't be around for the long haul.

Poor nickelback. It's like God said, "Creed is done; rock needs a new punching bag. It will be you. Why? 'If Everyone Cared' - that's why."

Maybe they're just trying to milk every dime out of this until he's totally derailed.

Well, duh. And that's disgusting.

I would disagree in regards to Layne, he essentially locked himself in his home for the last years of his life. While he always struggled with drugs, he kept his head above water when touring. Layne simply did it out of the public eye. That is something that Wes and Scott failed to do. Scott screwed over STP so many times with his drug issues. This actually reminds me a bit of Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon. I was fortunate enough to get to know some of the BM guys through a series of phone interviews and then hung out on evening in Mpls. Shannon was a fun, sweet guy. But drugs destroyed him. I remember hearing from a member of a different band talking about running into Shannon at Woodstock 94 and how Shannon, despite having toured with this guy, did not know him and was barely coherent.

But I don't wonder if part of it is that POD still have contractually obligated shows to do, ones that they can't afford to cancel. It could be a matter of them wanting to get the current shows out of the way before either A) trying to help him or B) Fire him.

I feel for the guy, but the band members are in a really tough spot as well. Unlike in the past, they can't make ends meet on album sales or money from a label, bands today pretty much have to regularly tour to pay the bills. Much of the time, bands get some of the money in advance, they may not be in a position to return the
money as it likely is keeping them going.

But it looks like this is all a moot point as 30 police stormed Wes' home and took him into custody today.

I really liked them. Hoon's cover of "3 is a Magic Number" is wonderful. I think he recorded it days before he died.

Yeah, but...dude is dying on them. At some point, you've got to draw a line in the name of human decency.

Just saw that. My bet is that he'll be out in a matter of hours, if he isn't already.

Shades of Shane MacGowan of The Pogues. They haven't released an album since he went off the deep end.
