For the citizens of New York City, Monday June 6th, 2016 was a normal day like any other. It started out nice and sunny, a perfect day to be in Central Park. But then the skies grew dark and a massive thunderstorm appeared over the city, seemingly out of nowhere. Rapid arcs of lightning were flashing in every direction, striking down people by the thousands. Windows shattered, fire hydrants busted, vehicles exploded. Then, just as quickly as it appeared, the storm vanished, the clouds fading away to nothing.
Roughly seven thousand people were struck by lightning that day, out of which only about three hundred survived. A few days later, the survivors began to develop powers and abilities, many of whom began using them for less-than-noble goals. But a select few saw this as a higher calling, becoming heroes against the rush of new villains. But being a hero is not easy when the government wants to capture every Stormwalker, regardless of their morality.
All types of characters are welcome, and I do have an explanation and cause of the storm that we will explore later on. My two main characters will be Busterman and Nightmancer.
Busterman manipulates energy to fly, project blasts, and create forcefields. He can also channel energy to amplify his physical attributes. He takes great pride in his role as a hero and is considered honorable and dedicated.
Nightmancer can shift his molecular structure to become a sort of purple/black mist, and he can control his density in that form, to such a degree that he no longer reflects light and thus becomes invisible and intangible. In this form he has minimal friction against the matter around him, allowing him to zip around so fast that it can practically serve as teleportation. He cannot stay this way for too long, however, or else he risks destabilizing and scattering his molecules. In Mist Form, his brain becomes a sort of wireless neural network, allowing him to control every part of his essence, but without the physical organ in corporeal form, the electrical pulses will gradually weaken until they are gone and his molecules scatter.
Nightmancer only uses his full Mist Form for very brief periods of time, puffing in and out of sight around a battlefield, shifting his density slightly to move faster and attain a greater level of agility and flexibility. He often wields twin daggers and, unlike Busterman, he will actually kill his enemies. At first he tries to be a noble hero and fight alongside Busterman, but then another Stormwalker kills Nightmancer's family, and he goes all Punisher and starts assassinating villains.
