An ‘Unusually Large’ Pizza Order Led Police to the Final Paris Attacker

Hunger has brought down yet another of the world's most-wanted fugitives. People will recall that drug lord El Chapo was undone by his goons' love for tacos, and that the annoying "affluenza" kid and his mom idiotically ordered Domino's from their cell phone while off the grid in Mexico. Now a greedy takeout order has also foiled Salah Abdeslam, the last un-captured member of the ISIS cell that carried out the Paris attacks last November. Abdeslam evaded authorities for four months, long enough to become Europol's most-wanted criminal, but Belgian police finally captured him Friday thanks to what Politico dubs an "unusually large order of pizzas."

Well, they won't make that mistake again. Thanks whoever released that.

Luckily for us these guys are just enthusiastic amateurs with no real training in the spying trade.

The IRA could be trained deep in the Libyan desert by Soviet advisors. Daesh does not have that access to professional spies. The old Ba'athist network was never proficient in foreign spy craft, just counterintelligence.

About the best they can come up with is watching Jason Bourne movies.

you'd think pizza was haram. i mean, what if dude was handling ham or pepperoni right before he made your pizza?

That works. Interrogators during the Iraq war said they got their techniques from 24 .

You might, if you made the assumption that the terrorists are fundamentalist muslims. I make no such assumptions.

The Mexican cartels seemed to learn their tradecraft from movies too -- till they started recruiting (*) trained cops and soldiers. including top anti-cartel units. Bloody competition between cartels sharpened their skills. Has ISIL/ISIS recruited any anti-terror units?

(*) Recruiting: The technique is called plato o plomo, silver or lead. Take the bribe or we'll kill you and all your family. It usually works.

I lived not too far from the US Army's interrogator's school at Ft Huachuca (right across a valley from Tombstone AZ). Instructors there were pissed that graduates exceeded acceptable practice by imitating that 24 bullshit. Such cowboy crap does not produce usable results.
