Rob Ford, former mayor of Toronto, dies.

I kinda liked the guy.
But I liked Mark Sanford too.
~you know, the gov who said he was going hiking in the appalachians, then jetted off to Argentina to fuck his gf.
Damn, that guy's got stainless steel balls!
I'd vote for him.

Between the public drunk and disorderlies, the crack smoking, and the homophobia and sexism, yeah, just great in public office.

Is there anything good for Toronto that came about from his time in office?

Honestly don't know anything about this dude aside from the spectacle of his last few years.

I liked him, and I feel sorry for him.

Leaving aside his drug misuse (not bothered by it as long as it didn't affect his work) he was really funny and wasn't into putting the typical "I'm so holly" facade that other politicians put.

Plus he really tried to help the disadvantaged in Toronto by reversing the effects of gentrification.
For example, he diverted some of the money that was used for less important things, in the rich sectors of Toronto, to the poor suburbs.
He tried to build a subway there which could link them to the Central parts of the city.--- no more segregation according to income.

It's amazing how "enlightened" you are about this, being a recent emigrant from some country in southern Europe.
You always talk about middle-school behaviour, too.
Which country did you do middle school in?

Geez, pensive, did I quote some posh philosopher like you guys do?

Uh huh
Better wear a string around your finger to remind you to stick to the schtick.

Do you actually believe that I wrote that in order to attack you guys or the OP?

No. There are two streams of info about this guys - Aphro is inclined to go with what the majority of news said about him. But if you're a youtube junkie like I used to be, you come across other things.
I always liked him - some of the stuff on youtube highlighted the good, and it was also hillarious!!

Trump plans to make Canada into something useful, like a leper colony.

Classic story of a second generation business family layabout son.

His father started Deco Labels, a boring but very successful business.

When Rob wanted to play football, dad paid off and sent him to the Washington Redskins training camp.

The guy was a total wastrel. Garbage.

Was never a fan of his. But my condolences to his family. 46 is way too young to die.

Think I will go fishing now.

Rob Ford, the controversial crack smoking former mayor of Toronto, has died of cancer at 46.

He was a buffoon. A lower level Trump.

I feel sad for his poor, mousey wife and his two young kids.

The guy lived life large and was a bit of a hot bag of snakes, that's for sure.

I thought he was a bit of a train wreck, but the sumbitch got himself elected, many times. Apparently his constituents liked him.

But he's hilarious! Like dizzyB00bY!

So .. you think that what he tried to do -link the poor suburbs with the better parts of the city via a subway system- makes him the most contemptible mayor or politician there ever was ?

Should have kept him as my bonus on the Dead Pool. I went with Robert Downey Jr. this year thinking all the $$ and adulation would trigger a relapse.
