I made my post because the instance I saw the title of this thread, "etal" jumped out at me. It is an expression you use all the time (sometimes totally inappropriately) and it appealed to my sense of irony that "etal" could be seen as a convincing tell, just as ms_vagina saw "discuss" as one. It appealed to my sense of humor and had nothing in itself to do with islandman, Lunarfaggot or SmootG.

As I explained in my other post, I do know who Islandman is. I've posted in one of his threads, the Cool Science thread, although I don't remeber ever interacting with him.
I have seen SmootG on the GB, but until now I actually assumed he was trolling Smoothg103rd - goes to show what I know, right?

Anyway, just to be clear - I didn't post in this thread to defend any of those posters.
If anything, it's kind of absurd to imagine that they need me to defend them at all, if they are the mean and nasty trolls that you and ms_vagina say they are.

I also didn't make my post because I really thought that you are a ms_vagina alt (or vice versa) although having said that, the similarity of your butthurt in this thread makes me reconsider that idea a little.

Because I was very disturbed by the horrendous, chronic harassment that I witnessed, I wanted to reassure myself first, so I ran the info that she posted here, past an acquaintance of mine, who was a senior oncology registrar at the time(the equivalent -for the States- of a consultant who's been practicing for 2-3 years). He confirmed that, without a doubt, all the info that Ann posted here could only have been provided by someone who experienced the illness and went through the medical interventions. Or their relative. No layperson could have been so accurate.

Regardless of who the target is or what they did, harassing a cancer survivor is not ok in my books.
Moreover, two or three posters (I call them progressives) told me point blank that even if Ann's cancer was genuine she deserves to be harassed about it. Revolting.
