I've faced this for a long long time. Vote FOR who/what I want; or AGAINST who/what I don't want; or not at all? Hint: I vote compulsively but haven't picked a presidential winner since 1976. Dr Spock and Ralph Nader never win. Jerry Brown didn't make it either. Too bad.

If the choice is noxious, do you hold your nose and vote against Tromp? It depends on the jurisdiction. I rather doubt California will go for Tromp so I'm free to vote for anyone. I'm a registered Green so in November I'll likely mark the ballot for Jill Stein. Were I in a swing state, I'd consider holding my nose.

Let us not forget that Tromp is effectively destroying the GOP. Way to go!

Let's start with what I emboldened. The GOP destroyed itself, Trump is the result not the cause. And it's folly to ignore the fact that the democrat party is imploding as well. A choice between a criminal and a communist?

If you're saying that democratic socialism is communism, then you need to get yourself back to school. Go educate yourself about the differences between fascism, socialism, communism, and democratic socialism - and quit spouting the faux news versions, FFS...

That said - yup, I agree that the Republican party has collapsed, and Trump is the result. But honestly, look at the rest of the field. They don't have one candidate who'd be worth a steaming pile of dog shit in the White House.

And again, I agree - the Democratic party is in the process of imploding as well.

Both of the above would be the best thing that ever happened to this country.

And Sanders being elected would be the icing on the cake. Someone with common sense in the oval office - how's that for a novel concept in the 21st century??

Amusing thread. Yet more attempts to categorize groups into sub-groups and then, somehow, belittle them. To what purpose, piss them off even further?

To my mind it's just more evidence as to how out of touch the urban elitist's and wannbe's are with the rest of the nation.

So far the evidence seems to point to the fact that the republicans are thoroughly fed up with the party leaders and the democrats are less than enthused with their choices.

The whole process is getting more interesting by the day.

And how is this housecleaning to be accomplished? With bullets or with ballots? Bullets get messy. And ballots... both sides (private corporations based in Delaware) have gerrymandered 'safe' legislative districts. GOPs have been rather more effective at this. But few sinecures are ever at risk. Ballots are stacked in favor of status quo.

Supporters of Tromp, Bernie, Cruz, all expect their champion to "break things open", crack the rotten political machine, wrest control of gov't from corrupt elites, re-empower the citizenry raped by gargantuan institutions, yada yada. Ain't gonna happen, not at the presidential level.

What is LIKELY: Tromp and Hill get nominated. The Clinton machine devours Tromp -- who I see as a secret Demo agent. Anti-Tromp voter turnout takes down large numbers of GOP congresscritters. GOP retains statehouses but loses control of House and Senate -- and can still clog the Senate. The game plays on pretty much as usual.

The USA experiment with a democratic republic ends not with a bang but with a whimper.

(Republic: representative gov't, not monarchy or theocracy. Democratic: selected by vote, not by lots or inheritance.)
