When I first saw the short 37-second news clip of this young girl being forcefully pushed and shoved by large grown men, my blood began to boil. In my lifetime, I have never seen grown men, many who at first appeared to be complete strangers, violently shove a young girl around like that. Some seem to just be pushing her for fun to the left and to the right, just because it's what other people were doing.

A random teenage boy shoved the young girl to one side until she is pushed again by someone else. A man wearing a military hat repeatedly shoved and yelled at her as well.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Chanelle Helm, a protester and respected activist who attended the rally, said that she and others were not just spat on, but were cursed at and demeaned repeatedly by Trump supporters.

When Thomas DiMassimo tried to rush Donald Trump's stage in Ohio over the weekend, he had a clear goal in mind.

He wanted to send a message.

"I was thinking that I could get up on stage and take his podium away from him and take his mic away from him and send a message to all people out in the country who wouldn't consider themselves racist, who wouldn't consider themselves approving of what type of violence Donald Trump is allowing in his rallies, and send them a message that we can be strong, that we can find our strength and we can stand up against Donald Trump and against this new wave he's ushering in of truly just violent white supremacist ideas," DiMassimo told CNN.

But DiMassimo, 22, didn't make it to the podium.

He was quickly blocked by Secret Service officers, and members of Trump's security detail rushed to cover him. After a few moments, the GOP front-runner, who was visibly startled, gave a thumbs-up and thanked the cheering crowd for warning him.

DiMassimo, 22, of Fairborn, Ohio, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic. His next court date is Wednesday. The Wright State University senior sat down with CNN on Sunday to talk about what he did and why.

12 March 2016, Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump posted a video on Twitter along with a message stating that Thomas DiMassimo, a protester who was arrested at his rally in Dayton, Ohio, had ties to ISIS:


The above-displayed video, however, has nothing to do with a terrorist organization. The video was originally uploaded to DiMassimo's YouTube page on 29 April 2015 and shows a protest at Wright State University concerning the death of Eric Sheppard:

DiMassimo's video did not feature Arabic music, did not begin with a photoshopped image of a man holding a gun, and originally included an English caption:

Students at Wright State University #NotMyFlag protest. The protest occurred to stand in solidarity with the symbolic actions of Eric Sheppard.

Furthermore, the caption included with the video posted by Donald Trump did not state that DiMassimo was a member of ISIS or that the footage was taken at an ISIS rally. Instead, the caption mocked DiMassimo and made a crude remark about his genitals.



In summation, the video posted by Donald Trump linking protester Thomas DiMassimo to ISIS is a hoax. The video features real footage from a April 2015 Black Lives Matter protest, but the Arabic music, caption, and photoshopped image of a man holding a gun, were all added after the fact in order to falsely tie the protester to a terrorist organization.
