I'm thinking of working on a story about a guy who doesn't believe he'll ever be lucky enough to ever get a girlfriend or even sleep with one and get her pregnant. He thinks things over for a long time and decides to donate to a sperm bank. Even if he has no contact with the child he just wants to have a child out there. Unknown to him a friend of his works at the sperm bank and uses the sperm for herself or a friend if the one who works at the sperm bank is male maybe he contacts a friend or even his sister or the donor's sister. I don't know much about the dealings with a sperm bank so would anyone be able to help with those details? Or would you know if there is a story like that out there? Or would you rather write the story? Any way I may work on the story. If that kind of thing is allowed here.

Sure it's allowed here. There's not underage sex nor bestiality nor snuff so go ahead. You might want to research industry practices to make the sperm-handling plausible re: screening and anonymity. That would be my major concern: getting the procedures right.

And that would be a reason I asked for help. I'm also not very good at research on the Internet and stuff. All the places I've looked at aren't very helpful. Maybe I could try calling one of the sperm banks or something but I'm not sure how much they'd like me doing that, especially if they find out why I need the info.

Yeah, there is a time and place for realism in stories, and I don't think this is one of them. You don't have to claim all sperm banks work the way the one in your story does. Maybe it is run by a renegade with a new and better idea. I like the glory hole idea.

Maybe the sperm bank is bankrolled by Allstate Insurance. "You're in Good Hands with Allstate!"

Most? I dunno. It depends on when (age and era) and how they learn of their kinship, and of their cultural climate. We're looking at hundreds of kids, born over a decade or longer, mostly in very well-to-do families because IVF ain't cheap. They've been in elite schools; the eldest now have promising careers. Let's have a news flash reveal the relationships in 2016 when the youngest IVF half-sibs are over 18 (because LIT). The oldest are 28+ with kids of their own -- some by their half-sibs.
