I placed a couple of adds here on Lit seeking to converse with like minded souls.
Being reasonably naive to the 'ways' of the internet(as perceived I guess through my now slightly tainted and hopefully wrongly skewed limited experience of internet)
I was honest about my interests and gender and even age. I was pleased to receive several PM's a couple of which were from honest individuals commenting on my posts and a couple that I dueted with to build enjoyable Roll play scenario's(mutual contributions). The vast majority of the rest unfortunately were from people professing to be female or couples of various ages and persuasions intent, seemingly, to try almost anything to solicit pics, text, video, details from me.. Again I admit to being naive to the ways of the web but the amount at which this practice took place and the depth of thought and intricate attempts made me consider.....: ' Is cyber deception and trickery of this kind classed as a genuine form of modern sexual identity'??
Then I considered: if it is, why is it? What is it or should it be 'officially' termed?
Iam aware of terms such as 'trolling' and 'fakers' etc but they are generic to cyber harassment but I'm talking about the act of cyber deception purely with the intent of sexual self gratificaton...
Thoughts and opinions, or suggestions of proper terminology would be interesting and appreciated... Regards, Jay.

My view

Everyone on lit uses an alias or nickname. So we are all fake in that respect.
I have written stories for a "25 year old woman" who sent photos of "herself".
Made no difference to me.

Fantasy world is better than the real deal.

I'm not sure what the problem is.

You're here for gratification. They're here for gratification. Establishing and identifying a mutually acceptable solution equals the way forward.

Basically, this is life.

What do you mean "we?"

Do you have a mouse in your pocket?

My opinion is: you invited people into your life and now you seem to be surprised that most of those people don't seem to be truthful.

Welcome to the internet.

Search: catfishing.

Many thanks for the replies.. Thanks for that babbling Brooke;)

Rest assured there is no problem at all, I merely asked for opinions on something I had never encountered before.... Iam far from closed minded and like to understand better what it is I've experienced, and In turn ask those that may well know more than i of the subject..
For future reference: I believe you can be whoever you want to be, as iam...;)
Regards Jay.

All I'll say here is that if you truly are "naive to the ways of the Internet," Lit is definitely not the place to start. It's like taking driver's ed in a Lamborghini.

Roll play?

If it seems too good to be true, you damn well can be sure it is.
No exceptions, though the eventual reasons will vary.

'Drivers ed in a Lambourgini' that is perfect and indeed a great way to describe some of the experiences so far. Nice one Wrong Element.:)
Educatated humour and poinient things to ponder in all the posts. Thanks.

Rolls are also thrown on Sunday mornings at Brumbies bakery in cannonvale;)

All the world's a stage; we are players in tragi-comedies of our own devise.

I love travel because self-re-invention. Whatever I was at home where folks know me, elsewhere I'm whoever I wish.

The 'net is such an elsewhere. Nobody here knows you're a poodle. You can be any profession, gender, ethnicity, species, etc. You say you're a freemartin (sexless) gopher with an iPhone, who am I to doubt you?

You may wish to include some honesty in ads aimed at actually physically encountering people so they're not nauseated when you meet. But for online chats, forget it. Most chatty females are likely fat old balding guys. Or poodles. Untrimmed, unwashed. Yuck.

This site is all about erotica and people wanting to explore, role play or to get their freak on. Some use it as an outlet to experiment/play out what they feel might be taboo or weird or can't let their guard down in real life for many reasons.

Is it cyber deception if I dont tell you all my sexxxy secrets or am I just telling you what I want you to know about me and my sexual proclivities?

Unless you can use a polygraph on the internet I bet most people aren't being honest here but they probably would do the same if you met them in real life too.

Just dont give out your co ordinates, bank details or social security number and I think you will be a-okay :)
