In anticipation of the wackadoodle outrage:

BB will post some racist cartoons and cut and paste some nonsense with no basis in fact.

AJ will cut and paste something from the American Stinker about communism, quote some long dead and discredited Austrian economist, and possibly tell us what was in the heart and soul of a long dead foundering father.

Miles will say Hillary is ugly.

Ishmael will *chuckle*, call people cute little names, try to put the women-folk in their proper places, and possibly sober up for a minute or two.

i wish i could sober up for a minute or two. sadly, i'd need to get fucked up first.

It will be a high point in the election cycle for Lit's famed Four Horseturds Of Teh Shitpocalypse™.

I have not yet been to Cuba. Everyone here, goes to Cuba on vacation because it is very in-expensive. Throw a $50 and you will get top notch service for a week.

I have a US passport, so I am unsure how I would be treated.

I heard about Obama's visit on news radio, sounds like he making a lot of demands. Go or don't go.

It is entirely legal. I doubt the CIA will put you on a watch list.

I already have had an FBI back ground check. So I am good. I am a resident of Canada but a US citizen.
Legally, I can go, and fly out of Montreal.

I already started a thread, ShariaSavage

I HOPE HE WILL GET ASYLUM

I have friends that go to Cuba every year. They go to Canada then travel to Cuba on their American passports. As I understand it, it's not illegal for an American to go to Cuba, but it's illegal to spend US money there. These guys say that customs in Cuba doesn't stamp their passports so that they don't have to answer questions from US Customs when they get back

But they are drunks and you can never be sure their recollection is correct. They may have actually been in Sweden.

It's not illegal to go from another country but yeah, I've always heard you can't spend US money and that our government will crawl up your ass when you get back.

Heh! That is what I have been told as well. Plus I have a Canadian Residency card, so I am sure it would not be a problem.

But really, I hate crossing borders. I use to commute from Boston to Montreal every weekend. It was fine. But you get some "Border Patrol Cops" that are dicks. They play by their own rules. Moving my stuff here, was horrible.

Anyway, I would like to go and see Cuba. :)

End of cheap vacations in relatively peaceful country. Opening up commercial flights could do all the Bay of Pigs intended to do, overnight, in a generation.

Hopefully they can hold out.

And the Yanks are going to steal it out from under us. 350 million of them spending money. Any idea how hard it is going to be to book and how much prices are going to go up? Cuba will be raking in the greenbacks!

U.S. President Barack Obama's announcement that he will make a historic visit to Cuba in March marks another step in the normalization of relations between the two countries — and once again raises questions about how the Canadian tourism experience in Cuba could change.

On Tuesday, the U.S. and Cuba signed an agreement to restore American commercial flights to the Caribbean country for the first time since the two nations became estranged 50 years ago.

During those five decades, Canada has been one of Cuba's main sources of tourism.

"I think a lot of Canadians and others are probably wanting to get to Cuba before the American onslaught," said Arch Ritter, an economics and international affairs professor at Carleton University in Ottawa. "It was very nice for Canadians to be there and they seemed to be welcomed by the Cubans, and I'm sure that's the case now for the Americans."

That "onslaught" of tourists from the U.S. has already begun, according to Jury Krytiuk, senior travel agent in the Cuban department of A. Nash Travel Inc. in Mississauga, Ont.

"There has been a stampede of Americans wanting to see Cuba before it changes," Krytiuk said. "It's just been chaotic."

But the increased demand hasn't affected accommodation prices for Canadians yet, he said, because U.S. tourists have primarily been travelling to Havana and sightseeing destinations for educational purposes, while Canadians mainly visit Cuba for beach vacations.

"Even though Cuba keeps saying, 'Canada is our friend, they were there when nobody else was there, we will never forget them,' politics is politics and the dollar rules."

"The Cuban people are proud of their culture and they're going to want to protect their culture and their image and not have it Americanized the way Puerto Rico was."

American tourist go all the time. It is common. They like Americans down there as they do Canadians. Good exchange rate for US dollars in Canada now. Change US dollars for cheap and go on cheap vacation. Just leave from Canada. I bet Mexico too (?). Or other Caribbean locale.

You will no issues with border crossing.

Article posted says Yanks going to Havana for educational and cultural aspects. Probably better than beach spots.

i want a picture of him with an old cuban woman smoking a handled cigar.

There will be a huge scandal when members of his party and the secret service are found to have smuggled contraband stogies in to the US.

We have the Cuban stogies here. I have smuggled a few to the States. They are pricey though.
