Anyone here dabble in the world of bitcoin?

I have, but the info will cost you some imaginary money.

I've used bitcoin to purchase prescription drugs from overseas pharmacies. Pretty painless, especially if you have a Circle account (checking-->bitcoin).

Bitcoin has always seemed to me to be a genuine and well-intentioned effort to bring legit currency to Narnia by the True Believers that has, against significant efforts to prevent it, been co-opted by fringe opportunists and grifters. It's been co-opted to the degree that it isn't trustworthy, at least for any amount you aren't ready to lose.

It's fine for walking around money, but nothing you can't do without. Even some of the progenitors have largely abandoned this effort. It's like that list of things that is a great idea in principle, but as a species we are too fucked up to realize.

Has anyone here watched the documentary on it?

I watched one about that guy Ross Ulbricht, who had a whole free market set up on the dark net. People buying drugs all over the place because of the anonymity bitcoin provided. Pretty cool stuff. He's in prison for life now.

It did look pretty good. I'll have to check it out; it's in my queue.

I really like internet anonymity. I'm really stoked that tor and bitcoin exist. But I think bitcoin is pretty risky, no? There's no bank policy, no credit card fraud alerts, if someone steals it, or scams or cons you out of it, it's just gone. No getting it back.

So on one hand I'm a flaming libertarian that really does not want my money to followed.

But on the other I like having my money protected.

It was a surprisingly better read than the rest of the crap.

I've been wondering where you've been lately.

It's good to see you.

Yes! This is what I've been using too. Circle.com.

I've not used it to purchase anything, just as a means to fund some accounts. It's been flawless.

I've used it for about six months now, without any trouble.

You need to take a couple of steps to protect yourself, and make sure when you're sending you have the right address. Because, as you said, if you screw up, it's gone.

The anonymity, however, is pretty cool.

Bitcoin is the untraceable cryptocurrency of choice used by criminals and terrorists to finance their activities.

Security or freedom is always the tradeoff.

It has no real significance. I'd no more care about Bitcoin than I'd care about a cow in Africa being traded for some plowing implements. There's no relevance.

Also, I agree with Garnate. He actually offered something to talk about. Gimpy is good for the GB. I approve this message.

Thanks Ricky!

And I think this kind of currency will become more popular over time. We'll see. I'm hoping so. I've got quite a bit of it.

Nope, same blue triangles Bert.

Price differential:
  • Murica - $20.00 /pill
  • Overseas - 20 cents/pill

Wow. Are those the EXACT same pills?

You must be plowing the ladies left and right, and at a reduced rate. Talk about win-win.

They're not made by the same manufacturer, they're an Indian knockoff called "Manly". My cock swears there is no difference.

Got one steady girlfriend now, that's all I need. Life is good.

If you're gonna fuck around in the corners of the net then you need some bitcoin. Just the way it is.
They can trace it though, don't make the mistake of thinking they can't.

I feel like it's very relevant in a society where they preach a monitored life is a free life. Bitcoin is untraceable, in a world where everything we do is seen by someone somewhere. It's not connected to a bank. It's not connected to an address or even a name. It's a huge step forward in internet anonymity, and the basic right to privacy.
