No Daytona 500 thread in the GB for 3 years. (Except this one.)

Danika Patrick was sitting on the pole, was a comment by one announcer.

Cagers driving in circles.

At least they race on asphalt. Dirt is for growing potatoes.

The race wasn't that exciting. I love Nascar, negative comments about it doesn't bother me. This particular race today, however, wasn't that exciting to me. It's on to Atlanta next weekend.

Rory thinks racing fans are hicks. That's just the kinda guy he is.

As teens we would go to Delaware Speedway every weekend. To drink cheap wine from magnums, make out and watch crashes. Later we raced there. I would sit and nap in lawn chair with roaring stock cars going around. Someone would give me a kick to wake me when it was time to go over the wall. I was jack man.

Only seen one or two drag races. Been in quite a few. Even won some on a motorcycle. 11.04 @ 122mph best time. Stock piston KZ1000 with slick and wheelie bars.

Best seat in the house is drivers seat. Pits aren't too bad. Stands are kinda boring. On TV is sleepy time again.

Am a liberal hippy but had many stereotypical southern redneck experiences as a youth. Out running police in V8 muscle cars on gravel back roads and going to stock car races. Real Dukes of Hazard shit without the stars and bars. They never had to run back roads in winter. Spent many a Saturday night digging and pushing Matadors and Chevelles out of snow filled ditches or hiding in farmers fields while police went past.
