Republican Jeb Bush ended his campaign for the presidency Saturday after a disappointing finish in South Carolina, acknowledging his failure to harness the hopes of Republican voters angry at the political establishment.

Who would have thought a guy whose father and brother had already been President wouldn't have been able to convince voters angry at the political establishment to vote for him?

His failure was not being able to answer the one question he knew he would be asked....and he had so much time to prepare.

The GOP nomination battle ended last night. The old timers concede its over and Trump won. Trump has the tv wrestler persona and the issues: JOBS, ILLEGALS, TERRORISTS, and FOREIGN ADVENTURES. One old lady said it all when she said, THE OTHERS ALL WANNA SEND JAMES TAYLOR OVER TO SING, "YOUVE GOT A FRIEND." Americans are pissed!!!!! except the libs here.

If you ask the average citizen how they are doing financially, the answer is going to be consistent. People are struggling. Trump comes along and even if its smoke and mirrors, but he comes along and says, "Make America Great Again" and people drink the sand because they don't know any better and because, they have NO OTHER CHOICE!

Watch and learn people......crazy as it is

Finally! Carson and Kasich need to follow suit.

Interesting that Bush's superpac spent something like 100 million on Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Trump spent maybe, 1% of that amount, and he's won 2 out of 3 states.

Hillary has spent a mountain of cash and is only barely leading Bernie.

Wow....it's like money isn't the deciding factor.....Weird.

Bernie has plenty of money too.

But the thing about Trump is the extraordinary, completely unprecedented amount of free media he's received. He can talk about "self-funding" all he wants, but when you begin the race as nationally famous, and can get guaranteed media coverage for all your public appearances and even your tweets, how much do you really need to spend?

Irony about Bush: Here in Ohio, we're just now beginning to get some political ads, three weeks out from our primary. The first ones I saw last week were anti-Trump ads run by a Bush-associated PAC. And now they're already moot.

Bush wasted so much money, sort of a shame.... if you can't answer a question you know you are going to be asked, I don't want him as my President.

Jeb, he should have gotten out earlier, and come back in 4 years....

The money Bush wasted came from those who collected the spoils from the Iraq War, so it's hard to feel sorry for them.

Presumably he goes to the convention and stands, smiles, and holds a "Hey, look at me" sign under a spotlight while the three "should never be elected" guys fight to a standstill and the convention has to broker a viable candidate.

What I think is an interesting question is whether and who he'll endorse.

I like that scenario. Amazing that the GOP can't come up with a viable candidate.

Well, we know he won't be endorsing Trump. I actually felt bad for Jeb when Trump berated him.

God help us if Trump is elected president.

Maybe the most interesting question now is where the votes that normally would have gone to Bush are going to redistribute. My guess is split between Rubio (with the two kissing and making up to the extent possible) and Kasich. I don't see any going to Trump or many going to Cruz. Looks like the upshot will be that Trump's leads aren't quite so big and Cruz habitually polls behind Rubio. A pretty notable adjustment to the current map.

Exactly, he is right place, right time. He's got the disgusted pissed off working class on his side and whether he's right or wrong, he's saying the things they want to hear which is pretty much give America back to Americans

WHY? Maybe the honest, hard working regular everyday American is fed up . He may not be the best guy for the job but I think he's better than anyone else in the running.

I agree. I think Rubio will get a lot of them. Not sure how much longer Kasich will last.
I don't think Jeb supporters will give their votes to Trump...at least I hope they won't.

That's just downright dopey. To some extent, you deserve to have him win and then suffer the consequences that he will have no ability to govern whatsoever--with it only dawning on you at that point the great number of services you get from government for what you contribute to paying for them (the same consequences he'll suffer if he doesn't find a way to stop this farce and back out with his showmanship intact).

It's particularly crazy the support he's getting from Evangelicals, as many times as he's been married, with each successive wife being bedded before he dumped the previous ones (and the first wife charging him with rape), that he wallows in casinos and screwing his investors, as un-Christian as most of what comes out of his mouth is, and that any thought that he's churched is laughable. But then Evangelicals are conveniently hypocritical anyway--and dopey and unable to see beyond the end of their noses (even when they are standing on their cranks).

PACs and populist! Industrial complex and the mob. Industrial-military complex put Hitler in power, pandering to the mob broke Greece. Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them.

*The Donald is not AH more of an Il Duce. Just making a point.*

PACS allow foreign corporations to influence American politics. You really want foreigners having a say in who gets to be POTUS?

Playing on frustration, fear, hatred, racism, narrowmindedness, limited intelligence and analytical ability, and justified weariness and resentment of being trampled down by war reparations put AH in power. In that, there certainly are connections between Trump and AH--and between the post WWI Germans and a big slug of what Americans have been brought to by their insularity, indifferent education, sports bloodlusting, and need for toys.

Couldn't have said it better myself!! The best I could come up with was that Trump is a narcissist. Lol
I mean, he is, but you gave much better reasons.
Thank you!

Fair comment. And if you want to scare yourself stiff. Google Donald Trump/Lawsuits. The man has zero moral compass, and is unfit for any public office, but the people who vote for him won't be reading any of that.

Yeah, let's see on this business success he talks about. Financed by family money, four bankruptcies and failed with casinos, an airline, a beauty pageant partnership, clothing line partners. Trump University sued for fraud. Fired from his own TV show (no matter the spin he puts on that).

Just on the bankruptcies alone--the first time he did that with the federal government, we'd all be in deep kimchi.

The man's not a successful business man. He's a carnival barker and self-promotion machine who was bankrolled by his family and has collected the rest of his money by defrauding investors and screwing friends.

We have an example of his benevolence right here in my town. A woman had her house up for sale for $100,000,000 dollars after a messy divorce in which she got the house but her son got the front yard. While claiming to be her best friend, Trump bought the front yard and and then fenced off access to the house, getting the house (and a winery) in the process for $7 mil. Nice guy. All he's good for is screwing everyone else, including his dopey supporters.

The fundamental problem remains: You got no one to defeat Trump with. None of the 'also-rans' got a plan or an idea. Rubio talks like the class dork delivering a commencement speech at graduation. ENDEAVOR TO PERSEVERE! His breath reeks of milk and cookies.
