Well Ish is, even if it’s just in the form of a strawman to preserve the current status quo, everyone else knows that it’s unrealistic.

Never mind that if such a thing had a snowballs chance in hell of being enacted, in order to be as modestly successful as the Aussie ban which got a mere 20% of guns out of circulation, you would have to pick up (and pay for ) 60 million guns.

Why would anyone have to pay for the confiscation of an illegally held gun?

So lets say you did that. That leaves 240 million plus guns left. None of the 60 million <registered> guns picked up in such a scheme will have been registered by criminals forbidden already to have them.

A reasonable objective isn’t to totally shut off the supply of guns to the criminal kind and the mentally incapable totally. A reasonable objective is to turn the tap a revolution or so and stop things like untraceable gun shows, illegal selling, secondary selling and reduce the number of guns stolen/lost per year.

I forget the exact figure, but from memory every year 500k, that’s half a million guns are lost/stolen in the US. Is that what you call responsible ownership? What is the penalty for this? So every year you top up the criminally held guns by well over ½ mill is this responsible?

You still have the worlds largest mass of privately held guns by a huge margin, so what, exactly has that accomplished? Nothing.

Anything short of that is a complete waste of time. Nothing you can possibly propose sort of 100% ban and house to house sweeps will make a dent into the availability of guns. It is all hot air designed to appease the left and to irritate the fuck out of the right who tend to be gun owners. Nothing more.

So fuck it just give up huh? Put up with the ridiculous murder rates and shrug at each mass shooting huh?

Perhaps in a year you will have achieved little that is noticeable. I know you guys have a short attention span and like instant solutions, but, over a period of say 10 years you will have substantially reduced the number of criminally held guns and those available to the mentally ill that can only filter through to less shootings over all.

Socio-economics is not just an observation of poverty ya dullard!

Which means not only their relative poverty but also how that poverty effects behavioral interactions of individuals and groups with-in that society (sic Neighbourhood)

Three people were wounded by gunfire on Wednesday evening inside the Washington Square Mall on the east side of Indianapolis, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

I actually like guns. Real cool techy shit and history. Did a tree carving of an 1875 double barrelled shotgun with hammers. Spent time in the armed forces. Am an excellent shot. Operated the clubs kids pellet gun range in club basement.

Would love to skeet shoot or do biathlon. Deer hunting in my county must be done with bow, shotgun or black powder. Muzzle loaders sound like fun. I have a bow myself. A buddy went to France this year as a Battle of Waterloo re-enactor. COOL!

Goose guns, moose guns and muzzle loaders are fine by me. 9s and ARs you can shove up your ass before you send it off to the smelter.

Update, only six killed. The girl police thought had died has been upgraded to clinging to life.
