Posting a personal on the General board is never a good idea.

The inhabitants of the general board can be like circus lions who haven't been fed in a while, don't want to perform and are working out ways to make their tamer mess up so they can eat him.

I would not take it personally and/or seriously, it is just a gut level reaction.
Kind of like when you have the stomach flu and try to eat, you stomach doesn't care if it's chocolate, cavier or graham crackers, it's going to spit it right back up.
If I were to post such a thing here, I would fully expect all sorts of unpleasant reactions.

A personal does much better in the personals section of lit. You could probably take the same opening post there and get lovely reactions.

When posting as a newcomer on a forum such as this one, it would benefit you greatly if you would take a few weeks or months to take a look at the forums to figure out which is the best fit. You wouldn't walk into a new job and start dishing with your coworkers about who is a slag, right? First, you take a look around, get a feel for who really is a slag, then go from there. Online forums are pretty similar in construction.

It seems you picked the wrong forum. I don't think the posts in your other thread are all that toxic compared to some of the stuff I have seen posted here. In fact, many of the people in that thread were downright pleasant.

Some of you cheered me up and made me laugh. Thank you! I do appreciate the advice you have given me and will definitely look into that to prevent any more issues.
Definitely some brutal people out there and it's extremely hurtful. I tend to stay away from negativity but in a place where people can be themselves, it took me surprise that people degraded others on this site.....I was not prepare for that. Those types of people need serious help.

Oh, fgs. Every single person on the General Board thinks EVERY SINGLE PERSON who joins, is a made up nic, of another regular poster ON THE GENERAL BOARD. I don't know if you are one or not. Doesn't matter to me. if you are new that is why they are asses..or is it ass? Questioning you or belittling you or just being the losers who pull the braids of the cute girl in front of them. They will berate you, make fun of you, humiliate you and bring you to the point where you have to stand up for yourself. Oh, I promise you, there is no respect on the general board....(unless you're in the IN group). It's an elite, special, judgmental, threaten your real life, type of people. (Hard to believe, I know). But if you are buds with the cool oldies, you got it made.

I have come to like, adore many general board posters. Others need to dissipate only b/c of their vile personalities. You know the type. Those who never ever have anything nice to say, EVER. Put those who kill your mood on ignore. Not worth wasting your time responding to negative comments.
