LOVE AT A TENDER AGE by Lawrence Block

5 stars

2 stars at Amazon.

This is the vile stuff Laurel protects us from. One Amazon reader calls it PENTHOUSE LETTERS from kids. Its THAT alright. But it has a couple of redeeming features that are valuable.

One is a long interview with a guy who connected with Mrs.Robinson in high school.

The other is a long interview with a woman who made dad her lover after mom died. Sis was about 13 when she filled mom's shoes as butcher, baker, and candlestick maker at home. She makes it seem like she hadda wear down his resistance.

The junior Penthouse Letters are graphic and boring. Kids in 1970 did the same sleazy shit they do today, but used Polaroid cameras back then, and wrote notes in class.

Further proof of Amazon's of double standards with indy authors. If an independent author wrote under age sex stories both them and their publisher, if they had one, would be banned.

Underage sex isn't wrong, we've all done it (most of us) ... it's how you grow up.

What's wrong is giving adults who want it a reason to do it. That's why Laurel has her rules. And that shouldn't need an explanation.

It shouldn't, but it seems to every three or four months when someone starts whining about it.

There are sites that allow it so all they need to do is take it there, but that would be to easy.

This site only has three or four rules and all but one are a smoke screen that are never really enforced. But people still bitch.

Back in 1970 underage sex (like cigarettes) wasn't a problem. The problem was all the babies the love children made.

What's that SNL line ... Jack Handy Deep thought ... I believe in a happy world for my children, but not my children's children, because I don't believe children should be having sex.

Google it, because my quote is off by a few words.

Stephen King's had a gang bang with kids (It), one girl, all the other guys ... he wrote it as a point of passing into adult hood (and he's a pervert) but to write it on here would be to get someone off, and that would be wrong.

Nothing illegal about under age sex in fiction, just in erotic fiction.

Big time double standard when you can't describe two 16 year olds having sex for the first time-even romantically-but Stephen King can write an underage gang bang in "It"

But Amazon makes up for it by not allowing incest, not even pseudo-incest between step relatives or in-laws.

Exactly my point, but the point behind it is key.

The world is a terrible place, and if you write a story about an older man/women with a child, then you inivite the IDEA of manipulation.

In 1968 before I left for Vietnam plenty of women brought their daughters and sisters around for me to date. Most were 15. One mom put it to me this way: SHE'LL FIND HER OWN OLDER BOY WITHOUT MY HELP, BUT I KNOW YOU, AND IF WORSE COMES TO WORSE YOURE BETTER THAN WHAT SHE'LL DRAG HOME.

And if you write about murder and serial killers are you not inviting the idea of violence and making suggestions to the already nuts?

People need to police themselves, its shouldn't be about pick and choose censorship. Again, I'm not talking a site like this I'm talking mainstream

You are, but there is a difference.

Sexuality is taboo.

It doesn't matter how you describe it, IT ISN"T FARE.

99% of people aren't going to kill someone, but 50% might fuck someone they should't.

It's called 'personal decency' .. you just have to do it. There is no reason for doing it, you just have to.

I'd rape and kill most of this world, I don't do it because IT'S WRONG.
