I was asked a good question, and I thought I'd respond in an open thread for the benefit of others who might have a similar inquiry.
I understand why you're upset that someone said you have a cock, told you to go fuck yourself, and subsequently told you to go fuck your own mother. For most (but, Lord knows, not all) members on here, that wouldn't be the greatest of afternoons.
I do not understand, however, why you feel that, after clearly having solicited such feedback via trolling and alliances with scummy members of Lit, you feel you get to be indignant about gender-based insults because you're a woman. It's interesting to me you're willing to play the "poor victimized female" card while you cheerlead behind people who think that's the most pathetic card to brandish. It's also interesting to me that you think this logic about not quoting and promoting their racism, sexism, separatism, xenophobia, etc, means you shouldn't be reprimanded when you giggle with them on other matters.
You are clearly not alone in this line of thinking. It's happened on here before and, frankly, it happens off of the computer as well, out in the world. However, let me try to simplify why things are the way they are when it comes to this forum:
1. This is a sanctuary for assholes with assholish views of the world, which is fine. However, much like the government, while the administration of the GB may indeed practice a free speech approach to most of what's posted here, there are checks and balances to assholish behavior, and these come in the form of non-admin posters - aka the public - flaming the fuck out of people when they perceive them to be disingenuous, prejudiced, acting cowardly and hypocritical, or otherwise. Embrace this. Learn it, live it, love it, or leave it.
2. Therefore, when someone lacks the integrity to say "I believe that too" and gravitates to and supports posters who are willing to state what they're not, and makes the excuses you are making, you should expect venom. If you're going to smile and wave to / with people who previously and currently spew hatred all over this board year after year, you're gonna get shit, and next to nothing is off-limits. This is fair and just. If you can't or are unwilling to tune it out, you're in the wrong forum. (Like, THE wrong forum.)
3. You get zero (0) points for "taking the high road" as you perceive it, if you're simultaneously cheering on assholes.
4. If you're a political or social rhetoric machine, you will be treated like one. Differentiate yourself for better results. I'm not always successful in doing so, but I made a whole thread about what I don't like about Liberal leaders and some Liberal positions. The Conservative regulars on this forum didn't dare make a similar thread about their side. Speaks volumes.
5. You're getting off easy so far. Wait until some jerk posts a whole thread about your crappy erotica (if you've published any).
