A few days ago, I submitted my story. It's been pending for 3-4 days. I checked the status today, like I do everyday and there were changes. The "pending" status changed from blue to solid black and instead of saying "Awaiting Approval" it's now giving tomorrows date.

Does that mean my story was accepted? I was expecting a rejection, because my friend visited me on Friday and I told her about the story I wrote, she read it and her being an avid reader, she found mistakes, I couldn't.

She pointed out 12 grammatical errors, nothing major, just simple mistakes such as, "grabeed" instead of grabbed and "usless" instead of useless. I corrected the errors and I planned on re-submitting once the story had been rejected.

I'm a little embarrassed, but in a story of 3,000+ words, I think 12 mistakes is forgivable lol

Anyway, I've never had a story posted. This will be my first one if it is. I figured an author here on Lit could answer my question.

If it doesn't say pending or rejected, then it's been approved. A few spelling errors likely won't prevent a story from being approved. If you're seeing a date, then you should see your story on the list of "new" stories on that date.

Thank you. My day has just brightened up!

Yes, that's what that means.

Yup, when it's blocked out with the next days date, it will publish.

Good luck with it and if you're looking for feedback you can start a thread in the feedback forum with a link to the story to get some input from the authors and readers on the boards

If you want to submit an edited version, submit it just like you did originally but ad - EDIT to the end of the title and in the notes field of the submission form. That way you won't lose any votes or comments.

Thank you for letting me know. I might do that. The errors are minor, but still, it bugs me.

As always, I'll note that when the edited submission is approved ( vanishes from your private submission list ) the changes requested will not be visible on the public side of the site immediately.

Usually, the changes will appear within 24 hours, but sometimes, it can be as much as 48. Also, not all of the changes may happen at the same time. The changes on page 1 may appear, and then some time later, page 2 will change.

So don't panic, thinking your edit went wonky, until you've waited at least 24 hours.

Then panic :D

The first errors were in the beginning, the last were in the end.
Near the end, I was quite excited and my judgement slewed a little, I was writing the "good parts" lol

Should I fill out the category, description and tags as well?

If you're only editing the story text, then you fill in everything else necessary to complete the form with placeholders. The exception is the "notes" section, where you say exactly what you're editing. In this case, the story text.

Also, you need to submit the entire revised manuscript, not just the pieces you fixed. That's been a point of confusion from time to time in the past.

I did just that. Thanks everyone for the advice.
