Are there restrictions on foul language in a story?

I'm currently writing a story and this question just hit me.

Does Lit have rules about foul language? Now, my story isn't a gutter-mouth one. Just a few baddies here and there. I can change them to more "appropriate" words, but I'd like to know just the same.

Thanks.

Hullo there! Welcome to the board.

I think the only rules are No under age, No bestiality, and No rape (although you are allowed noncon in certain circumstances - this one can be difficult to define).

Some readers even get off on foul language :) (I have five stories reviewed on my blog with the tag 'dirty talk'.) Go for it, make sure you mention in the tags that there is foul language used so that those for whom it's a fetish can find your story easily, if it is being used in that way.

When it's uploaded, come back and post a link so we can find your story, too.

Thank you, that's a relief. I was in deep when i thought about it. I was like "Oh crap, I'm gonna have to edit a lot." lol

Don't mean to hijack but where are these tags to be found for a particular story.

Not certain what you mean.

For tags ON individual stories, they can be found at the end of the story (or posted chapter) to the right of the voting stars and comments area.

For tags you can use, those are pretty much unlimited...just type in whatever you want. You can have up to ten and it's in your best interest to us every one of them to maximize the odds of your story popping up in a search. In computer speak: SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

If you are wanting where TO be able to search using key words, go to the site contents page and scroll about three-quarters of the way down the page. Near the bottom of the page is the "Search the Site" section. Click on "Search Stories." On that screen enter the key word(s) you want and it will pop up the top hits. IE: Typing in 'Pizza Boy' gets you this list of results.

If one of those didn't answer your question, please clarify what you are looking for. :)

Hullo G! Hopefully JKD's answer was the one you were looking for.

I was actually talking about the tag cloud on my own blog - link in signature. There you can find a tag for 'dirty talk' as well as lots of other things people find sexy.
:)

Sorry about small hijack, OP! I'll try to put the thread back on topic.

Fuck, shit, bother

I know. All too well. That last phone call to you got billed at $3.99 a minute.

When did you raise your rates? :D

I wrote an entire story based on exploring the "dirty talk" fetish. It even has "Dirty Talk" in its title. So no, there are no restrictions on that. Hell, it says "free speech" on the home page of the website!

Not sure exactly what you mean here, so I'll give a couple of answers: where to find them in a story, and how to put them into a story you're submitting.

At the end of the story, below the list of additional chapters to the story, there is a list of story tags for that story.

These tags are added to the story by the author when she/he first submits the story. There are ten spaces. the author can use all ten, or just a few.

Before I enter the tags I go to the tags portal, to make sure I'm using popular tags. The most popular tags listed are in larger type. Hopefully when someone searches for stories by tags there'll be a better chance of your story coming up if you use the popular tags, that still relate to the story. It only takes a little extra time to research the best tags.

Here is the tags portal: https://tags.literotica.com/

(The link to the tags portal can be found at the very bottom of any page of the story, or on the first page you come to on Lit - with the list of other sites.)

This thread, and recalling a truism that "Celibacy is the worst sexual perversion", are driving me to start a thread on "What's your worst perversion?" The answers may involve foul language and excursions beyond LIT's pale. (That's an allusion to thematic bounds.)

The rules here are:

* No bestiality (with real animals -- fantasy beasts are OK)
* No underage sexual involvement (with humans appearing to be under 18)
* No rape (unless the victim eventually enjoys it)
* No snuff for sexual titillation (but straight murder is OK)
* LIT's owner/editor Laurel does not like mutilation (so no trephination fetish).

The strictest language restriction here is on pederasty. Don't talk about underage sex. Don't include underage characters as sexual objects. This has nothing to do with laws, but is a non-negotiable area in LIT's rules.

Sorry I was not clear that I was looking for the tags for a particular story. I now see the box at the end of each story. Never noticed that before, shame it is at the end and not at the start of a story to help decide whether to read further.

Okay, back the fucking thread that the OP wanted to fart about. :)

This is about the best summary I've seen. It probably belongs in a sticky, verbatim. Everything is qualified correctly (fantasy, appearing, eventually being key and crucial qualifiers.)

Clarification on that - it's okay to mention under-age sex ("I was fooling around and got pregnant at fifteen"). What you can't do is make that part of the story sexy.

The "no snuff" rule seems to be interpreted a bit more leniently in Erotic Horror than elsewhere, at least when it comes to things like succubi.

I've observed this as well in EH. I think it's mostly because fantastical creatures draw a pretty distinct line between fantasy and realistic abuse.
