Hallo everybody peeps!
I'm considering writing a romantic fanfic/RPF about Malala Yousafzai (She's 18). Before anyone gets too offended, let me say that I'm only planning to post it on this website because the whole concept is very touchy. I can understand how, to a lot of people, it would be like a Holocaust joke, and a lame one at that. The content itself, I think, will be tame by this site's standards, not that that's saying much. If you forgot the subject matter, it would likely be a PG-13, or maybe a very tame R. Basically, I plan to write a story about an affair between her and a character of my own creation. There will be sex, but I will leave most of that to the imagination (Remember, there's a non-erotic section on the site). What do you think? Is it worth going ahead with, or should it be confined to the dustbin of crap stories, for whatever reason? Any and all feedback will be welcome.

I doubt many people regard Malala Yousafzai very sexually; with adoration and respect, maybe. You could have a hard time finding readers.

Cheers mate for responding. My awkwardly-worded thread starter was an indication of what you have just summed up far more concisely. It's a very niche topic, to say the least. Finding readers for something so un-PC could be very hard indeed. Then, again, I'm no Milton, Shakespeare or Dickens, so competing with everyone else in a more established field would probably be equally hard. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Oh, the joys of writing your first story!

I'm no fan of fanfic although I do appreciate good rousing media satires. That aside, even respectful fanfic of a highly respected and blameless humanitarian and activist like Malala now would be IMHO problematic for an author. Also, non-erotic stories on LIT do not grab many eyeballs, so you'd have a very small audience.

A different tack: There was an excellent comic titled HELEN KILLER, with deaf-blind Helen Keller turned into a superheroine thanks to special glasses made for her by Alexander Graham Bell, glasses a bit more functional than a Star Trek visor. A Malala fanfic might be set a few years in the future. She gains extraordinary powers somehow and battles (non-violently) with Taliban et al. Romance can intrude.

I'll pay you cash not to write this.

Honestly I think you might be on to something other than the fact that despite her age I don't think most people think of Malala as 18 or at all sexually and you migh tbe better off just dropping the baggage that comes with Malala (appearance for better or worse, personality, known history) and instead just fabricating a Muslim woman in that part of the world with the enough history that we all know who the character is "supposed to be" without you being pinned down to she would never do X or wasn't at that particular meeting or yadda yadda.

Basiclaly celeb/fanfic exists for a few reasons (IMHO). The first is to explore fictional characters that you just enjoy (honestly I wish FF and Celeb were separate but whatever it is what it is and Lit doesn't NEED more categories.) The second is to skip a lot of the introduction and description stuff. You already know what a Scarlette Johanson is so I don't need to tell you how hot she is. You have (an opinion informed or not) about what kind of person she is. So I don't need to build character as much.

So that's my 2 cents.

Malala is best known for stuff that happened at age 11-17, so you're on thin ice there; I believe other stories have been rejected for involving characters best known as children, even with a "now they're over 18" disclaimer.

Sean's suggestion is good. Take it as inspiration for a fictional character that's unambiguously over-18.

Well the characters bit is becuse you can't age characters. Which constantly leads to constant go round for fiction about what qualifies as Lit Cannon. Ariel (and most Disney Princesses) are explicity 15 going on 16 or barely 16 in their movies. (Both Ariel's B-day is the concert she misses and Jasmines is the climax of the movie for example) but Ariel has a daughter Melody. Assuming Disney ignored the 18 for sex rule. Ariel was 16 years 9 months when said baby was born. Said baby was a small child not an infant or toddler. She's cannonically at least 18 if not early to mid 20s. We have NO timeline whatsoever for what goes down between Aladdin and the sequels. Could be (but isn't) two weeks could be years.

With a real person who ages naturally you should be fine. Emphasis on should. Many of them are most famous for their childhood roles but they are actual adults. Honestly it's an obnoxious question and one of the few that no matter how hard I troll Laurel refuses to descend from her gilded cloud and answer.

That said I stand by my statement. You'd be worlds and worlds better off making up an original character who basically fits Malala's description. Maybe even specifically note that she did many of the same things. I know I'm wandering a bit here but on Boondocks the character Grandpa is essentially a black Forrest Gump. Not stupid, just everywhere in history. He's implied to have been a Tuskegee Airmen, and was arrested for refusing to give up his seat on the bus mere moments before Rosa Parks but didn't have her "connections" or what not. You could easily have this character be someone who was simply overshadowed by Malala because she didn't get shot. . .it was shot right? Or she was only grazed bla blah blah.

If *I* don't write it, how much will you pay me?

I'm a realist I live in the real world, and as abstract as your mind is I know you live in the real world too Hypoxia. That obtuse story idea just isn't your thing. Therefore you'll be paid nothing.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to reply personally to everything that's posted here, but, since I'm British, I'm not always online at the same time as you lot. I agree that no matter how "respectful" my treatment of the subject may be, it'll certainly raise a few eyebrows (Remember the kerfuffle a while back about Anne Frank stories on [Please do not "spell out" names of other story sites. Spelling out "dot" shows you know it's spam.]?). Your suggestion is funny at the very least, and probably far more acceptable than whatever I was thinking. If you add a bit of fantasy to something, no-one will think it's supposed to be real, so less people will get their knickers in a twist. Again, thanks.

Could we work something out? My email account is "[In the chance this is a real Email account, though doubtful, it is removed. Still could be a real one even if not yours. Please read Literotica rules.]", and I live in Nigeria. Now, if you just open a bank account and deposit... Et cetera et cetera et cetera.

NB This is a parody; I have no intention whatsoever of pulling a 419 scam on anyone.

Yeah... Dog whistle marketing, basically. I had thought of that (i.e. Creating a character obviously based on Malala), but I felt that I'd rather go the whole hog. You saying that, though, reminds me of a Pakistani movie from a while back. I never saw it, but it was called "International Guerrillas" and was about a hit team of "guerrillas" (terrorists to you and me) chasing down the one and only Salman Rushdie. Only in Pakistan, eh?

You could be right; I had thought of that. I suppose it depends on who reads it. You can be lucky, or you can be unlucky.

If you do write it, you've stolen my idea! BTW, I identify as the supreme ruler and creator of the universe, and I have plans to copyright Malala Yousafzai. If you say that I'm not the supreme ruler and creator of the universe, you are guilty of racism. So there.

Obtuse? Can you clear this up for me? I didn't know my story idea had anything to do with angles greater than ninety but less than one hundred and eighty degrees! ;)

I'll refrain from writing it for twenty bucks. PayPal is fine.

Well, I'm offering a price of twenty as well... But I'm British, so whoever pays the ransom will have to pay considerably more! Did you know that our quid is the strongest non-Arab currency in the world? :DBritish Pride:D

You should google the literary definition of 'obtuse.'

Effective immediately I’m putting this person, on my ignore list. Orwell37, you are persona-non-grata. I will no longer be able to see or be contacted by you.

I hoped that by putting the smiley at the end of my quote I'd make it obvious that I was just being sarcastic. Of course I know how the word was meant.
