I just checked both the urban and classic dictionaries, and it can be used both ways.

And indeed, seems like some Europeans don't mean it in an insulting way.
I personally only heard it used with the intent to insult (the recipients at the time were some persons originally from India) both here and in England.

Other than Ken being a female impersonator who chose that role for perverted or malicious reasons, could he have simply been a poster who had something in the line of a gender identity disorder ? Who also happened to have been abused by his parent?

Or do people think that the first ones (malicious or perverted reasons) are a lot more likely. (in that case, I suspect that he tried to take advantage of. or do harm to other postets)

I think Ken just liked the idea of pulling off the scam, at least in the beginning. After all the time spent continually dealing with the inconsistencies in the things he posted, Ken became too invested to just let go of it without a fight.

The one thing he had going for him was that he had the pictures of the actress. They weren't on the web at the time so no one could search and discover them. He used them as his AVs for years. He posted some of them in an AmPics thread too.

At one point he got careless and fucked up his timeline for when the pics of the actress were taken. Going by how old KK said she was and when she said she moved to LA, the pics she posted had to have been taken when "Karen" was under 18.

Of course, he was able to get newer pics of Natasha. That allowed him to keep catfishing for years. But he got over-confident and that led to carelessness which eventually led to Sonny's irrefutable outing.

It helps one a lot to know the previous board dynamics, in order to understand some current reactions. Without that knowledge, some GB reactions seem odd and puzzling; but when you put them in the context of it's past, they make much more sense.
