Are you aware of the difference between a ranch and a farm? Ranchers don't raise crops.

The alleged poaching which clearly couldn't have been poaching seems like sort of a side issue but I'm just amazed at the lengths to which those are going to insist that poaching might have happened when it clearly couldn't have according to the government's version of things.

And deer never eat forage intended for cattle, that never happens. And it's not the government's version, you dumb fuck, it's the version described by multiple witnesses.

I don't know a damn thing about ranching. I do, however, know that some folks will kill deer for reasons other than to provide food, contrary to the statement you made.

This thread is rather illuminating as to what the problem is with western lands. The problem is those in the East have never seen a cow graze and have no idea what's involved with range management. No one in my family has run cattle for at least three generations if you don't count the dairy which is not quite the same thing, but just basic conversation with any rancher and a little bit of observation would tell you a lot more than any of these people seem to know about cows.

Hell, have they never be even watched deer in a wildlife film or cattle in a spaghetti western?

A really weird hole in their knowledge base. They have deer back east and no grasslands what do they think the deer eat there?

Deer are not buffalo. Deer are not competing with cows for range grasses. The only thing deer and cows have in common is that they are both herbivores.

Let me give you an example of the difference between a browser and a grazer. I have a friend with 1200 acres he raises sheep and goats. First he sends the goats through each pasture first because they browse they eat the stuff at the top they don't munch it all the way down to the ground. They eat the more nutrient-rich top part that involves more likely to have seed heads and such. Sheep on the other hand have been used on the White House lawn to mow it. I'm not positive about the biology of it all but sheep and cows use very large volume of lower nutrient rich food. He sends the sheep through to graze what's left after the goats have browsed the tops
