Militia takes over Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters in Oregon

Child abuse is child abuse.

That being said it is not all to the same degree.

Shit like this was common years ago. The standards of child abuse have evolved. I would venture a guess that many people on Lit are victims of child abuse by today's standards. ( I have even seen stories/admission of such) It is unfortunate that many people have not evolved with the standards.

When Adrian Peterson took a belt to his kid as punishment and left marks he was guilty of child abuse. But certainly not to the same degree of a lot of sick motherfuckers that lock their kids in basements, starve them, or other sadistic shit.

What he/they did was wrong. (sandpapering off the tattoo). I personally would not put it in the sadistic category. If my underage child got a tattoo, a long conversation would be in order, along with a loss of all electronics, and a trip to the Dr's to get it removed.

Funny how this kid ended up being the key "witness" to poaching.

Ratting out your family over something like that is pretty lame. But I don't think he lied about it. He may have decided to give a little "tough love" for the "tough love" given to him though.

And I would put the sand papering in the sadistic category.

Just when do you think it was acceptable to sandpaper a tattoo off a child's skin, Barney?

Never.
Just like physical punishment is never acceptable, marks or not.

But I understand reading is hard for someone who never attended college.

I have to admire your persistence in believing you are smarter than everyone else in the thread, when the evidence so strongly indicates that you are not.

I guess someone intelligent must've come in the thread with actual knowledge or original thoughts, otherwise he wouldn't be back here telling us all how wrong and stupid we are for being factually correct about his holed-up rebel yell heroes for the nth time.

Excelsior! :D

Ah. So when you said:

The standards of child abuse have evolved.

You didn't mean it. Got it.

But sandpapering off a tattoo is not sadistic?

Is this one of those times, when you said something, but we were supposed to understand that you meant something else?

They have over 6000 acres. Poaching on government land seems questionable at best.

Add that to the fact that:

- BLM has been trying to obtain their ranch for decades
- BLM has started prescribed burns that burn private land many times
- Ranches have started prescribe burns that burn federal land many times
- I have never seen charges filed in any of these scenarios.

Add all that up and I am doubtful at best......

I wouldn't discount poaching just because of the number of acres they have, etc.. Its not hard to find examples of rich people getting caught doing things like shoplifting things of little value. In fact, I've almost adopted the motto that the least likely to do something are often the ones most likely to do it.

That is weak at best and you know it. Sure there are examples to fit your desired outcome. What..Less than a half a percent at best fit that story?

If there was enough solid evidence to prove poaching they would have been charged.

Yet they go to jail for arson based on something that couldn't be proven?

Hell. I do not even mind the Arson charge and original sentence even if there is more evidence to suggest it is shit than there is that it is real...

But the government appealing this years later to increase their sentence using a anti-terrorist act from 1996?

For fuck sakes!!! Who could possibly support that short of racist political sheep!

Now in English.

the problem in OR, is another issue obama created. let's face it, obama wants to be Queen of America. Sure he plays with pretty lip stick and knows how to draw a line in the sand ... over and over again.

obama is a fucking retarded asshole and hopefully you slaves have learned from the failed experiment and the rest of us never have to experience this again.

Sadly, obama has created so many slaves that I think the welfare class is now the ruling class. as there are more people on welfare (by welfare we also have to include government workers) then not.

So many logical fallacies, so little time. *sigh*

Would proving poaching be required for arson to be proven? There couldn't be a charge of arson in the absence of proving poaching?

The judge was in error when making the sentence. The government appealed and won. The system worked as designed. Whether or not the law and sentencing requirements were prompted to deter terrorism or something else is completely beside the point. I think whining that the law was designed for terrorists committing the crime instead of just a "regular" convict is silly.

have you thought about getting a job? just curious

They called in a prescribed burn on their land (Legal). The State says it wasn't a prescribed burn but a attempt to cover up poaching (Illegal and thus making the fire illegal)

Yes...Silly does come to mind.

In 1970 almost all the ranches in the the Blitzen valley . . .

VaticanAssassin looks to be mangling a list of dubious "facts" similar to that posted at this right-wing website. A lot of it, like the claim that the Fish and Wildlife Service deliberately conspired to flood and destroy ranches on the Silvies Plain, looks very suspiciously like conspiracy theory... and somehow I doubt external confirmation of most of these "facts" will be easy to come by, which is probably why the "Conservative Tree House" doesn't list sources.

Questions of dubious sourcing won't slow VaticanAssassin down, of course. :D

You mean he's not getting his "facts" from the Bundyranch blog any more?

Could be the Bundyranch blog is the original source of that particular myth list, come to think of it.

Apparently the evidence was there for a conviction. If not, an appeal should exonerate them. Silly how that works, isn't it.

They did appeal it. And lost. But that actually has nothing to do with YallQuaeda in the bird sanctuary. Even the Hammonds want nothing to do with these fucktards. Hell, even Alex Jones thinks they're idiots.

They thought they could get some street cred among their Vanilla ISIS brothers. They just look like a bunch of Miles and Dizzyboobies begging not to be put on iggy.

BURNS — The sheriff of this small community has a short, unmistakable message for the militants occupying a complex of federal buildings southeast of town.

"Go home."

During a news conference that lasted only about a minute Monday afternoon, Harney County Sheriff David Ward read from prepared statements condemning the group led by the sons of controversial Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy.
So what happened to "do what the cops tell you to do"?
