I was thinking of an idea for an RP or to make a story out of and came up with a concept. I wouldn't be surprised if it has been done but I'd like to see if a one had any spins on it or particularly good examples.

Short version. In a place where slavery is practiced (contemporary, historical, science/fantasy, a woman buys a slave for the purposes of having a someone to dominate her. In my version the slave is initially apathetic to being a slave (she sold herself into it to get money for her family) and has some experience with BDSM and takes the relationship seriously.

However, as time goes on, she starts to rethink her position and starts wondering if she shouldn't take advantage of the relationship to get her freedom or start using her owner in other ways.


Alternatively, the slave is just what the owner thinks would make a good Dom and tries to train her to take that role.

I figured the main conflict would be the trust between the slave and her owner in and out of the bedroom

I can't imagine being apathetic towards being a slave. That seems even if voluntary to be a step akin to arranged marriages at least state side. You know the families have limited ability to actually force your hand but a lot of people will "do right by their family" (I'm not making a value judgement one way or the other here) but it seems strange not to really care.

That aside the story has potential.

Well, the original idea was more akin to indentured servitude, so she only has a set amount as a slave but I see your point (also it was fantasy with some other stuff I left out)


Maybe less apathetic and more she puts up a front of apathy but she is distressed by it. Maybe she actually starts caring about her owner but then is so disgusted when she's reminded where her place is that she strikes out and turns on her owner.

That could work. Just apathy for me was one a bit too far.

Now apathetic toward her master is an entirely different kettle of fish as they say. Because that hinges on the idea that he doesn't treat her poorly. Hell he might actually treat her like a pet, affectionate to a point and then she'll slip. Calls him by his first name, walks through a door before him, little things that are either mildly rude between equals or is just nitpicky slave crap and it upsets her to remember she's in that position.

Then on his end you could do literally anything. I've written a few variations on masters who had problems of their own. If it's a fantasy setting I'm a rather big fan of them being a major noble. Far enough up the food chain that they are involved in all that familial bullshit because if these three guys die he becomes king. Then it's just a matter of starting off with one of his rival simply being worse than him. Enemy mine is so classic every comic hero ever has done it.

I suspect any society institutionalizing chattel slavery or servitude, to maintain order and prevent revolts, would have strict codes against harming or dominating one's owner. The slave-as-master idea is not feasible -- at least, your own slave. Going sub to another's rented slave may be acceptable. Any slave would be suicidally insane to dominate their owner.

So let's posit a chattel-slavery society where dom-slaves are a recognized occupational specialty, like Elvis impersonators in the Las Vegas unemployment office. Greedy owners carefully cultivate imperious doms and dommes for rental by the hour, night, week, year, whatever. Sex-slaves of all shapes and specialties are available for a price, just like now, but all in the open, just another aspect of Commonwealth life.

You mention tragedy and it makes me wonder how you could do this in an older society. you've got my above set up of royal BS to deal with and Dutchess Ravenwaves is basically more or less unknown outside her circle. Something happens and the slave has to step up and then from there you have your fairly standard mistaken identity story.

I think the idea has lots of merit. I'm not into BDSM myself, but my understanding of the appeal is that it is largely based on role-reversal: hence, you see powerful businessmen, moguls, and politicians willingly submitting themselves to a dominatrix. They need to get away from making all the decisions and holding all the power like they do in their normal life. In their private, special sex sessions, they get to enjoy being on the other end of the riding crop for a period.

So the slave-dominates-mistress/master concept is the perfect flip. It taps into both of their secret cravings and allows them to indulge in the opposite of their normal station in life.

Again, not in a society so stratified as to include chattel slavery. That 'flip' is fatally subversive unless tightly constrained. Such Western societies traditionally had a 'jubilee' day, one day of the year when roles were reversed and servants lorded over their masters. One day to relieve pressure and provide symbolic escape -- any more would have been dangerous. Can't let the slaves get uppity or you have to burn a bunch of them and then capture a bunch more. That's how history works.

As I suggested, hired dom specialists would not threaten the social order -- they're not denigrating their own owner, not breaking a chain of authority. And such a specialist falling for a client would be a tragedy. EDIT: Those are the tale's fulcrums. One domme falls for her mistress. Another mistress allows her slave to dominate, a capitol offense when discovered. The trick will be to devise happy endings.

I'm not as sure. Laws against harming would exist, but "dominating" doesn't have to mean harming. And laws against things only matter if the victim is willing to prosecute. There's no victim here.

If you wanted to write a deep story, the slave's confusion and then slowly learning to like her role would be interesting. The mistress for her part could have deep guilt over her privileged position, and find her slave slapping her ass to be comforting. It wouldn't even have to be initially sexual, and it might be more interesting if they both stumbled towards intimacy or at least lust.

I'd either make it victorian or fantasy future. I could see it happening in my The Captured Princess setting. But I'm not going to write it. I don't do f/f that well.

Dominant slaves get uppity. Uppity slaves revolt. No slave-owning society will permit such insurgence.

And there needn't be a victim, merely a witness. A 'decent' aristo who sees one of their class subservient to their slave will blow the whistle on such outrageous subversion. It's a political crime like USA slaves being illegally taught to read. Only trouble (for the social order) can result.
