If anyone remembers Hot Rod Williams, it's probably because of a point shaving scandal when he played for Tulane. They tried twice, but couldn't make it stick.

Off the court he was courteous and generous man. When he deposited his first pro money, he bought his mother a house. He played in the NBA for 13 years before retiring to Louisiana.

John "Hot Rod" Williams, 1962-2015

Bronzeage reads The Advocate?

Not the same Advocate. It used to be the Morning Advocate, but when they shut down the evening paper, they changed the name to "The Advocate."

This was not a problem until someone decided the paper needed a website. They were mildly surprised to discover theadvocate.com was already taken. The same family owned a TV station channel2, so they named their site 2theadvocate.com.

Somehow they came to an agreement with the other Advocate, which changed their site to advocate.com and now theadvocate.com takes you to my hometown paper.

I remember Hot Rod ,he had one of the cooler nicknames . It's right up there with "Pistol Pete" Maravich.

Aren't you the sweetest little thing. Bless your heart.

I know the above will confuse poor miles and I really hate to see his pained expression as he tries to force his brain to work soooo:

Bless your heart

If your children make it past third grade and do not yet understand that this is the lead-in to some of the most vile insults, they are not going far in life. If you attach some version of this phrase to even the most dreadful of insults, it’s totally fine to say.

Bless his heart, he is dumb as a sack of rocks.

Bless her heart, she has no fashion sense at all.

Adding “cotton-picking” or “pea-picking” to the phrase is typically a double insult.

Bless your cotton-picking heart, you really have no idea how this works, do you?

Bronze just forgot to ad the "but he's as dumb as a box of rocks" to the end of his post.

"Bless your heart," is something Miles hears a lot.
