The best way to deal with trolls is not to give them any oxygen, to ignore them. Sometimes, though, this is difficult to do. Sometimes the troll posts something vicious which you worry other people will believe. Sometimes the troll posts in a way that gets to you, and you can’t bear not to respond. You know it would be best not to get into it, but you can’t bear not to. Sometimes you can’t resist making some smarty-pants reply although afterwards when the troll gleefully gets back in their thread to say their stupid things again, you wish you hadn’t.

Maybe one way to get round that would be to use an emoji. Maybe we could ask for a new anti-troll emoji? Then when a troll says something cr#p about us, we can post a pile of poo emoji.

My reservation about the pile of poo emoji is that the trolls will start using them against us too, and I personally don’t want troll poo thrown at me.

Another one I have used successfully in the past is buns. When the trolls are picking on someone, I used to say ‘oooh a bunfight,’ and post pictures of buns in the thread, then sometimes people started laughing and the troll poo throwing stopped. So we could have a bun emoji.

Maybe we could use the smiley face. So it would go something like:

More than 1,200 women are tackling online abuse by naming and shaming "trolls" in a Twitter campaign which launched on Friday morning.

Members of a secret Facebook group are tweeting out names of more than 150 men who trolled Clementine Ford — with comments including "go to the bathroom and kill yourself" and "bitches like you are the reason why some men are prone to violence" — after a male Meriton employee was fired for calling her a "slut" online.

The hashtag #EndViolenceAgainstWomen and screenshots of the abuse would also be included.

Within 20 minutes of its launch on Friday morning the hashtag was trending at number one in Australia.

The bottom line is, even though this is a fantasy site, a fiction site, a pornography site, and an erotic writing site, most of the men who haunt here don't like women. How about that? Many men who Haunt here don't like women.

Either they're gay or mentally disturbed or have been jilted by a girlfriend, wife, or lover because they're insensitive dickheads.

So, instead of taking a hard look at themselves in the mirror and instead of getting much needed psychological help, they take their anger, their rage, and their sexual frustration on women, any woman will do.
