Obama: No indication of terrorist plots in US over Thanksgiving

President Barack Obama sought to reassure Americans they are safe on Wednesday as millions of people embarked on their annual Thanksgiving travels, with security at airports, New York City’s parade festivities and other venues expected to be heightened amid jitters after the Paris attacks.

“We know of no specific and credible intelligence indicating a plot on the homeland,” Obama told reporters at the White House, flanked by his top counterterrorism and national security advisers.

"Except in Minnesota," the staff muttered.

Happy Thanksgiving!! Oh no, is it ok to say Thanksgiving still or do I need something more pc like?

Happy meal of your choice, including vegetarian, vegan and no gluten options to show appreciation for the first meal shared by natives, the ones who really discovered America and those non natives who eventually brought disease and war to this country!

It is a relief that they don't have any specific credible threats planned for tomorrow but the French didn't seem to have any information on their terrorist attack and were caught unprepared.

"President Bush says, in our efforts to discover and stop attacks, we have to be right every time; the terrorists only have to be right once. This is an intolerable way to have to live."

That was said an IRA spokesman long before a President Bush was elected.

"The Brits have to be right every time, we only have to be right once."

No, the Feds got that one and the Pledge of Allegiance right the first time.

Actually, the Pledge of Allegiance has been through two major revisions.

The History of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.

In its original form it read:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
