Prompted by Guilty Pleasure, I'll coordinate "an erotic art challenge." My thinking goes like this:

Write a poem inspired by erotic art whether it's from the visual arts(eg. Painting, drawing, sculpting, photography), performing(eg. a play, dance, film) or literary (eg. another poem, novel, short story, memoir.)

If possible, include a hyperlink at the end of the poem that includes an image, so that the reader can have a point of reference with which to compare the poem. That, of course, would easier to do with the visual arts. Case in point: Modigliani's "Reclining Nude" that recently made headlines, having been purchased by a Chinese billionaire:

The other writing option would be to craft a poem about the process itself, as in champ's wonderful before and after examples in another thread:

I'd like get an idea of how many would be interested before going any further.

This one really appeals to me. However, what timing do you have in mind? I have two other writing challenges... and I've been horribly unproductive lately....

Assuming several Lit poets are interested, Mer, I'm thinking submissions until 12/15 and a couple of days to post names so that people may guess authorship before linking poet with poem. If people want to be naughty and nice, we can extend it another week:

I'm in, but can we use music? :)

Of course, those were just examples that came to mind.

Now that I think of it, the original Barbarella was an adult French comic strip; one sexy lady at least to a then 17 year old.

Ditto Jane Fonda in the movie, or rather the film, as it was directed by Vadim, and the topic is Art

I'm pretty sure almost everything is sexy to teenage boys. :D

I think the Ekphrastic Challenge from 2007 is a good resource for getting into the swing of this one.

Let's see:
  1. I like writing poems about art.
  2. I like erotic art.
  3. Therefore, I will like writing a poem about erotic art.
So, yes. I will try.

I have the first submission. I'll post it in a new thread identified for the poems only.

Feel free to use this one to comment about the poems or to talk about erotic art in general.

Submissions will close on December 15th. Post as many poems as you like.

Oh, I thought it was.......my turn to start again.

i thought so, too, for a while ... but cord? when does Angie make typos like that? i tried to apply 'cord' to the rest looking for bondage allusions. if they'rethere they elude me. *goes back to look in case the 'cord' is more that umbilical/emotional tie*
