Islamic terrorism is mostly a product of one particular sect: Wahhabism. And that's more about the unfortunate marriage of a bunch of religious extremists and the energy industry, not Islam itself. If, for example, the Westboro Baptist Church, Catholic Irish Republican extremists, the KKK, etc had access to billions of dollars in oil subsidies, I guarantee you that you'd see them launching international terror campaigns.

We should focus on the corruption of our own government and the results of its propping up of the energy industry, not our own prejudices about world religions we don't happen to practice. If we stopped propping up the House of Saud through our military and our dependence on oil, the resources for these groups would plummet.
