More and more dwelling places are having carpeting removed. Some people are voluntarily having carpet removed from their homes, while in many cases landlords are simply removing the carpet and putting in hard flooring throughout the dwelling when a tenant leaves.

WTF is with this??? Carpet is one of the greatest inventions in the history of human life on this planet. Carpet kicks ass. ANYONE who doesn't like carpeted floors is a complete MORON.

WHY, WHY, WHY is this happening??????????? I would rather be homeless than live in a dwelling place with no carpeting.

Twenty years ago the trend was the opposite way, even bathrooms and kitchens in some cases were being carpeted. This was wrong too. Carpet belongs in EVERY ROOM OF THE HOUSE EXCEPT for bathrooms and kitchens.

Why are people such stupid morons???? Its not that complicated people.

I removed almost all carpeting from my home because it triggered allergic reactions in one of my kids. Carpet holds on to lots of ick no matter how hard you work to keep it clean.

It must be teh gayz.

It probably does have something to do with the homosexual influence in interior design. They are generally trendies and support whatever "hipster" fad comes along. On the other hand, there are many older homosexuals who are fond of more traditional décor.

Its only a limited group of influential young "hipsters" who are probably behind this. I wouldn't blame all gays, especially the older ones. And, of course, not all "hipsters" are gay.

Carpet is awful. It's gets dingy and smelly and stained and filled with dirt. Spills are nearly impossible to handle. Pets pee on it and get hair all over it. Very unhygienic. Hardwood all the way.

Care and cleaning... It's generally easier to care for hard flooring than carpets..

There's a thing called a vacuum cleaner. Its a pretty cool invention.

Carpet helps gets heat in during the winter, and keeps rooms warmer. It keeps cost of heating down.

Carpet also muffles noise and provides better acoustics in many cases.

If carpet is so bad

Why do they put timber or tiled flooring down, then have to place mats over it?

carpet is nasty shit. burn it. i'll take solid floors and rugs.

I'd love to have heated floors then I'd get rid of all the carpet.

Carpet will come back in vogue eventually. Home styles and decorating are just like fashion but with a longer shelf life.
I like carpet in some rooms but as it is we have wood floors everywhere. I'm hopeful that it will change soon but since I'm the one that has to pay for it, I'm also hopeful it's not too soon.

Heated floors are nice. We put them in when we switched to wood in a couple rooms. Wish we had done all the rooms but we weren't sure how things would work out.

This ^^.

When I was a young strapping lad with functioning knees/back I used to do flooring, first job at 15. Old carpet removals were some of the most vile fucking work I've ever done.

Carpet is fucking FOUL.....I don't care how clean you think you are, you're not.

Because it's nice and gives cats something to go sliding into the kitchen with. Point being is when one of the little hellions hocks up a chewy one or smears their ass on it I can roll it up take it outside and fling it down the side of the mountain, hit it with a hose and toss it in the machine and everything is clean again.

Try that with your wall to wall....cleaners don't work, there is still residue all up in it. *skeevs out* eww...just ew.
