I don't think there is a war on Christmas, especially from retailers. They LOVE Christmas. What, is it 40% of their annual business? What's not to love? They don't give a shit.
I find the cup thing interesting as a social phenomenon. I'm not a regular customer. I don't like the cup from a design perspective. It's dull an unimaginative. It is a clear departure from their previous holiday designs. It was done for a reason. The reason could be free advertising. A lot of people are talking about Starbucks, and that's always a good thing.
The Simon Malls put out an Ugly Santa experience display for kids to get their pictures taken with Santa. Some "Glacier" Experience. Extremely dull. Looked like a white clam shell. The evangelicals in Charlotte got them to take it down I think, but it is still up at Roosevelt Field. I'm offended by Santa shilling the week after Halloween.
