Tits?
People who say "I took an Uber" as if it's not a taxi. It's a taxi. Shut up.
As an action, you can use "taxi" as nuance. Technically, it's a car service, not a taxi.
Is this like calling tissues "Kleenex" or gelatin "Jello"?
Sounds more like slang for taking a dump.
I laughed.
I've also Ubered.

A car service is a taxi. Taxi is a general term that applies to pretty much every car for hire. So, yes you took a taxi if you "ubered" which is a really dumb phrase to begin with.

Maybe this flies where you are, but here in Gotham City, this is a taxi:

This is an Uber:

So, for this modern age terminology's sake, when you Uber, you don't taxi, you Uber. If you don't want to be looked at with crazy eyes at the party, you're gonna want to make sure you get up to speed with the lingo.
You're kind of testy.
Believe it or not the vast majority of the world doesn't live in Gotham. I know that might be hard for you to digest but it's true.
Only when it comes to stupid hipster phrases like "I ubered." You took a freakin' taxi. The only difference is another shallow ass hipster drove it.
Nah, my digestion is peachy keen. I live in reality and I use the language that requires living in it for functional mobility.
A taxi is a taxi and Uber is Uber. Until the next thing comes along to replace either, you're just gonna have to deal with living in that world.
Well first you said it only applies in NYC and now you say we all just gotta get used to it.
This is all just too taxing....
Semantics aside, it's the reality of living in any metropolitan city right now, not just New York.
Hey, I "get it." Don't get me wrong. But when you call a taxi, you call a taxi. And a taxi is what you get. When you Uber, you Uber. That's it. And all Uber is, is a car (and helicopter) service made for smartphone accessibility. Even car services that existed waaaaaay before Uber changed the game never called themselves taxis.
This isn't my prerogative, either. This is how you call things. If you called an Uber a taxi, people will think you're funny. And not that ha-ha kinda funny.![]()
