Hello! I'm new to Literotica. I submitted my first story over the weekend and made the "noob" mistake of adding it to the wrong category.

Is there a way to change the category or do I have to remove the story and resubmit under the correct category?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I didn't see it in any FAQ and tried searching for threads about "Category" to no avail.

Your insight is greatly appreciated in advance.

Thank you for your time and response(s).

PM Laurel and request her to change it. Of course she might think that its where it belongs.

The actual preferred method is to make the request through the story side.

Copy the URL of the story you want to change the category for.

Start a new submission.

Use the same title as the original ( or as much as will fit ) + *EDIT* or some other similar notation.

In the "Notes" section, say that you're requesting a category change for the story, and explain why. Paste the URL you copied earlier here to help knock down the potential for human error. Category is one of the few places where Laurel will overrule your choice, so explaining why you believe it needs to be moved can be crucial.

Then copy-paste the "Notes" section and use it to fill in the "Story Text" section as well. Everything else can be filled in with placeholders, such as a description of "Requesting a category change"

You just need to fill in the entire submission form with something. The only important lines are the title and "Notes" section.

Then preview and submit as normal. Laurel has said that edits have lower priority over new stories, but that seems to vary depending upon the workload she has. I've had changes take a couple of days longer than a new story to go up, and I've had multiple edits all go up the next day after submission.

Please note that because the site is cached, changes made will not be visible on the public side of the site until at least 24 and sometimes 48 hours after the edit has been processed. The way you know the edit has been processed is that the new submission you made will vanish from your private submission list.

You use pretty much the same process to change titles, descriptions, and keywords, as well as to delete an existing story.

The only change if you're updating the story text is that the FULL new text needs to be in the story-text section.
