What drives you to do certain things?

I have a little obsession with pens, markers and sharpies.

I currently have

316 pens (all unique to each other)
90 markers
245 sharpies (nearly all are different colors)
72 highlighters

another obsession I have is organization. I have everything in its place, if it's not I can't leave the house or sleep...

What obsessions / compulsions do you harbor?

I have OCD with regards to many of the things in our operating rooms.

My house is completely unorganized. I need help.

I have a passion for pens and the sticky fingers to prove it.

I've got a bad habit of starting something, getting annoyed with it, then starting over from the beginning.

Add that to my chronic procrastination, and it's even worse.

I try to avoid compulsive behavior. Just on principle. :)

obsessively?

I hope my medical staff on Tuesday shares your O.R. tendencies!

When I am typing on the computer, if I make a typo, I am usually about four or five words after said typo when my brain catches up to my fingers. I never use the mouse and go back and fix my typo...that would be way too easy. I erase everything all the way back to the typo and redo...

Possession compulsions: musical instruments, photo gear, ethnic crafts, original art, books, buttons, office equipment, electronics, clothes, pickles, kitchen ware.

Behavior obsessions: certain sexual activities; drinking and puffing too much; preferring even to odd numbers; pretending to speak languages I don't know; overbidding.

I am not with you on the musical instruments, photo gear, graphic programs etc. yes... ethnic art and crafts, I literally theme each room in my house! Office equipment electronics, clothes and shoes ...and omg kitchen stuff!!! I love me some kitchen wares.

also, I like odd numbers. My lucky number is 13.

I couldn't find a pen in this apartment to save my life. Every time I have a pen, it disappears in very short order.

I like numbers in multiples of 5. Even in video games, if I get to a town or something or a place to buy items, and happen have 18 health potions and can't afford to buy 2 more, I will sell them down to 15, even though they're useful.

It's horrible. I can be something of a perfectionist, and if something isn't meeting my standards, I get horribly frustrated. I start seeing every little flaw, and the urge to just scrap it and start over becomes overwhelming. I've given up on far more projects than I've completed.

I keep copies of credit card statements and past paid bills way too long. Just last night I was throwing out stuff from 2011 and 2012.

Still got all of 2014 though.

I like my bar stools to be straight.

That's all I got.

A woman with priorities!
That's not nothin'!

I thought you were supposed to keep that stuff for seven years? *nervously eyes the filing cabinet(s).

but of course.

a bit of my obsession...which is pissing me off because they are no longer in color order after I allowed other to touch them. (there goes my packing for the night)

Whoa. I would either donate or throw those all out and start over. I try to minimize the possessions that bind me to the planet. And especially eschew items that have redundant function.

I understand that you may need each and all of those markers and sticky pieces of paper, however. :)

They will dry up before they can all be used, I don't get it, seems wasteful since most won't be able to be used before drying out. I have a couple of pens and a couple of Sharpies, more than enough for me. Kept beside the phone or in a drawer by the phone. I can't grasp the need for more.

You would want to keep copies of any financial records for five years (I think it's five rather than seven) that you used as the basis for itemizing tax deductible expenses on your federal and state tax returns.

For years that you did not itemize and for expenses that are not tax deductible anyway, there is no real reason to keep them.

Every one is a fully functioning pen / marker / sharpie etc. I use them often. I like to write long hand, including letters. We use the markers and sharpies for posters and such and this year I helped several students in need with pens, pencils, colored pencils, markers, paper and other things they needed for school. I love being able to help them out.

If you would not utilize them, it would be silly for you to have them.
