Yes, Obama's stimulus package saved the economy

I'd save the rain forests just because I like trees more than most people. :D I already send poor critters money. Maybe I should send some poor 3rd world fucks some bandaids and a 'hang in there' card or some shit.

It's already in the works...but the fight between independent farmers and mega agg is slow. But the public is showing lots of support at farmers markets in recent times and that's the best thing we have going for us.

I can't prove shit but my conspiracy theory brain says big agg likes to use these agencies to point blank harass small farmers. Because EvilCorp.

Or maybe it's just because CA is freaking the fuck out about water because srsbznz drought bullshit. *shrug*

The best way to save rain forests or unicorns is to buy some.

We built a desal plant here, to end our water problems. California has like zero desal plants.

Yea, already on that.

It didn't end them it just delayed them.

We don't need a desal plant, we need to pull the rice/citrus farmers permits and tell them to go farm that shit somewhere there is water.

Might want to consider ignoring Volkswagen's application to build those diesel plants, too. :D

IDK enough about how diesel is made.

Do you think it will use as much water as farming rice in the desert?

Diesel engines cause dangerous emissions. Volkswagen tried to cheat its way to higher sales with engine-management software that resulted in fraudulently low emissions testing results
.

Actually, I screwed up and this is all wildly off-topic. I'd seen "desal" in an earlier post, to which you'd replied, and thought it was merely a misspelling of "diesel." In re-reading, i can see that it was a shortened version of de-salination, so my crack about Volkswagen was a complete non-sequitur.

Can we get this person a cookie. They are probably the first person today to admit they made a goof.

If I fuck up I'm willing to admit it. That's not heroic, it's just human.

Your handle says you've been on Lit for more than a decade. Your words say you've been online for perhaps fifteen seconds. Admitting you made a mistake is heroic. I mean it's just a few hairs shy of single of jumping down a sharks throat to rescue a child you've never met.

One thing you have to consider is that rice farming puts water back into the aquifer. But sending water to LA just promotes more crazy.

I disagree, but maybe you've spent much more of your time here on the GB than I have, and I can imagine that might skew your sense of it all. Earlier today i was looking into some things that Thomas Huxley said, and I rather find this one especially appropriate in this political season:

"There is no greater mistake than the hasty conclusion that opinions are worthless because they are badly argued.”

I've found it makes my day much more livable when I push myself ever so little bit to give some credence to things people say in opposition to my statements. Most people are not idiots and most people form their opinions on the basis of their own life experience. It's worth it to me to spend a moment validating that experience. So admitting a fuck-up is no different. It's just doing my duty as a civil person.

Seriously....he's only like the 4th or 5th adult I've met on the GB.

It's all good man...I misread shit all teh time myself.

It's true but given the surface area, RH, crop uptake and winds of the central valley, there is a lot more evap loss than Aquifer recharging. A LOT more LOL

Sending water to LA does promote more crazy tho.....:(

what did the obama do?

didn't the "stimulus" that you talk about ... start from Bush II?

name just 1 thing obama did ... just 1 while its regime was in power
