The Republicans:

The party has three distinct wings. (+crossover)
1. Religious Right.
2. The wealthy.
3. Tea Party/Libertarian wing.

To win, you must lock up one flank, then get support from others. So...

1. Ben Carson beats Santorum, Huckabee, and Jindall.
2. Rubio/Christie/Pataki/Bush/Fiorina/Graham/Kasich
3. Trump/Paul/Cruz.

The early primaries are there to winnow the field. Carson has already won group 1. Field 2 looks to be a Bush/Rubio fight. The others look like road kill. Trump won group 3. Could implode and give it to Cruz...

Smart money says that after 2 rounds, we will be down to Carson, Trump, and Rubio/Bush.

I'm buying Rubio.

Now...which of the three appeal to the other cliques?

The assumption has always been that Bush ultimately prevails. If Rubio passes Bush, can Rubio unify?

At this point, I think he is the ONLY Republican who could actually win. Demographers say GOP needs 47% Hispanic vote to win.

Hispanics hate Trump, not crazy about Carson.

Trump will win if it stays mixed. Tea Party outvotes Religious Right. Rubio has to manage 2nd place in the other cliques to win.

My handicapping: 60% Trump, 20% Rubio, 15% Bush, 4% Carson, 1% Field.

Interesting that they chose a human to decide good vs evil for an alien race, when your analysis is based on the media popularity contest.

Remember when Rick Perry was popular or Paris Hilton?

Did you speak with every Hispanic voter and they told you this? If you base your theories on "research" done by popularity polling, then you are just regurgitating information.

A man that was tasked with such a great responsibility shouldn't rely on others for his research. (No, I didn't read the books and don't know if he ever made a mistake or not). Sitting around the water cooler spewing media factoids is boring. Who do you like and why? That is much more interesting.

I don't like any of them. I'm a Social Democrat.

People love labels.

Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

As a badge of honor I am sure you gets nods of understanding from others in the same group. I am not in that group though. What do you believe?

I believe that we will have a Madam President soon... VP Sanders or Castro.

Rubio could be tough to beat, Trump less so.

As a Social Democrat, I hope its Trump... That would depress GOP turnout.

I was asking in a more general sense, but this will do :)

Since you wouldn't define it I looked it up. You want a peaceful and gradual transformation to socialism through the political process?

So can I stay home and surf lit while you work and support me? I might wear that badge as well :)

Keep in mind how Hitler got millions of decent Germans to slaughter 6 million decent Jews. He knew the most important facts about people: Half have less than average intelligence, and half are nuttier than squirrel poop.

Heh! I guess that's what it means to some people...but that's the beauty of coalitions, no two people have to see things exactly the same way.

Kind of what Goldwater said about preachers...they can't compromise.

God doesn't compromise or do 2nd chances. Every breath you take is a roll of the dice.

I agree that being a lemming is a recipe for disaster.

This definition was all over the first page of google. Doesn't make it correct or complete but why do you choose a buzz word to describe what you believe? Do you think accuracy is important? Are your beliefs important enough to you that you would want a discussion where people know where you stand?

Answering that you think Hillary will win doesn't tell anyone who you like. That was my original question. Your answer was to tell me about some political affiliation that I know nothing about. That isn't an answer either since the definition I told you doesn't describe you. I tend to find that people who have actual beliefs in something will tell you what they believe or they won't. People who go wherever the wind blows will tell you about something they heard, or which way they are facing at that moment. I like people who know where they stand :)

I have had my political fill for the day. I am sure the more serious political posters will come by and challenge you a bit more.

Thank you for indulging me in your thread! Have a good morning/afternoon/night.

Simple answer.

I don't like any of them.

Government is important. But all of them have flaws.

Enjoy your evening.

God comprises all the time. She deals with human beings, so she is stuck working with a flawed media.

Absolutes kill options...and thinking.

We're related, if my pedigree is correct. So He told me he doesn't compromise or do 2nd chances. He explained it this way: SOME FOLKS CANT EVEN FUCK UP CORRECTLY.
Read the Book of Jonah, shitbrain.

I really doubt your claim that the Tea Party outvotes the Religious Right. They probably concur on a few issues and not be mutually exclusive, but the Religious Right has learned how to get votes since Carter won.

what has the obama kind done for American's?

more people are on some form of Government aide than ever before in our history.

obama has made the world a very dangerous place

help me understand, unless you are an obama slave, how has the obama or that party made things better for you?

again, unless you are one of those obama slaves

Indeed, there is a lot of crossover between these two groups as most of the Tea Party types claim to be Christian. In the long run though, I think that most of the stated Christians are not, and few of the actual Christianist candidates are actually very interested in the Gospel. For every Santorum, there are dozens of Trey Gowdys.

Yes the RR votes... But in an extremely muddled fashion. Only in Iowa do they seem to block vote. Most times, they claim Jesus, and then vote for guys like Trump who have not opened their Bibles in 40 years.

I don't think a Cuban-American will automatically appeal to Mexican-American voters, and most Latino-Americans are the latter.

Well, put it this way -- the Scandinavian countries are social democracies, not socialist states, and they are not visibly in transition to anything else. Social democracy is its own thing, an end-in-itself, not a step on the way to socialism. Works pretty good, too.

Bernie Sanders calls himself a socialist because he is one by American standards -- but he's a social democrat really. He wants a more vigorous welfare state, a stronger role for organized labor, and a more progressive and redistributive tax system, but he does not call for the nationalization or socialization of all means of production. His politics are about the same as the Canadian New Democrats'.

Isn't Christianity all about second chances? That is the whole point of the parables of the prodigal son and the toilers in the vinyard -- you're still welcome in the Kingdom if you come in late.

Automatically no.

But he has a chance at them. Something Trump has already thrown away. Carson might manage some of them, but the Hispanic vote tends to be Catholic... And Ben's 7DA fundamentalism probably won't resonate.

I think the Libertarians are distinct from the Tea Partiers -- and not nearly as important. Policywise, the Libertarians really have more in common with the wealthy/bizcon/establishment wing of the GOP; the Tea Partiers are more in the nature of economic populists, or producerists.

As they say about the French.

One Frenchman, one opinion.

Two Frenchmen, five opinions!

Generalizations are not ironclad, they are general. Not every teahadddist is as dedicated to 'the cause' as some are, so remember Generalizations are just that, general.
