Mind uploading, yay or nay?

In the not too distant future, it might be possible to transfer someone's consciousness into an extremely powerful computer.

I would gladly allow my conscious mind to be put into a machine just so I could haunt Heathyr Hoffman electronically infinitely beyond that of just a keyboard.

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be one with the machine!

We can make a copy... even a clone of some things, but is it the original?

Then there is the whole should we thing. I can think of many was to abuse such a thing.

With anything like this I always like to consider what would happen if some unscrupulous or person with evil intent had control of the process and you can be sure at some point, somewhere it will happen.

What does originality matter?

As far as abusing a new technology that has always been the price/responsibility of advancement. From black powder to atom bombs and gene manipulation.

You know they say the next evolution of humanity is to merge with technology and not without good reason. Nano tech? Just a matter of time before we replace the inferior human immune system. That looks to be the first step...one day we will build people.
