That one day, I would join a forum and start nearly 100 threads in my first 100 posts and never interact with anyone after starting each thread. I think that would be very lonely, Canky.
You cannot win the Internet by endlessly starting threads and sitting back and patting yourself on the back if one of them happens to take off despite your lack of input.
How do you decide to start a conversation that you have no interest in participating in? Do you just look at what seems a popular topic on Reddit or 4chan and duplicate a topic here?
I am curious about your process.
My polar opposite, twelve thousand posts and still no thread started. I've always been a late bloomer.

I frequently go to Blurt when I have a thought to float. I'm less inclined to enter the political or economic debates these days except to poke AJ once in a while just because. As you have suggested, if you start a thread you should maintain a presence in it...which I'd rather not be bothered with.
