I find that people wish to have stories tailored for them fascinating. Reading any story, fictional or otherwise, I find it not at all cumbersome to picture myself as either the protagonist or in some supporting role. I thought that was how everyone reads.
If you reallllly like seeing your name, clip a story and do a search/replace function.
