Winter Holidays
themes: winter holiday traditions (dreidels, gift giving, etc.), cold weather (snow), holiday mythology (Santa, elves), etc.
starts: November 10
closes: December 7
winners announced: December 14

Last entries for the Halloween Contest are due today, but the Winter Holidays Contest will soon be with us.

As usual this thread is to encourage authors, especially first time ones, to enter the contest.

It can be a bumpy ride with trolls to irritate you, but your story is likely to get more attention, more votes and more comments than any non-contest story in the same category.

Write, edit, post and support those who enter.

Ogg, you're relentless, people are still trying to gt buzzer beating Halloween entries in.

Mine is already written for this, nothing special, just a mom/son incest story with a Christmas theme I wrote last yea

Sorry. The Winter Holidays contest follows soon after Halloween. Some people do need a reminder. Others don't.

I'll probably only have 1 story for this, a lesbian story. Not enough time to write more, plus busy.

Also, for me, this is the hardest contest. There's not much elements to make a great story (at least for me) since the focus is on cold weather and Christmas and gifts.

Nano or the Winter Contest? Decisions, decisions.

Maybe I should write a Winter story for Nano first thing. Possibilities.

Faints then recovers. Thank God I drafted my story a couple years ago! Just searching for an ending.

You could use NaNoWriMo to write several Winter Holidays entries. The 30,000 words do not have to be just one story, or even a story at all. They could be the extended outline for your Great Novel.

Not really. Try hot places like Australia, or troubled areas. I'm working on a Christmas story bsed in Palestine.

Been working on it or nine and a half years?

Some of my possible contest stories have been waiting fifteen or more years since they were started.

The Earth Day drafts need drastic revision. ;)

In the UK, it's usually a good thing to get jumped. So for one moment, I read that as pilot having a queue of women after his body. Or having them fight over him. :D

I have no unfinished projects. My OCD does not allow it. But that's not always a good thing because I will let inspiration be put on the back burner for another story because I stubbornly refuse to leave something half done.

I think this is my last contest entry, as in 'have to enter the contest' ist my second year of doing them all under the pretense I could do something with survivor.

After this I'll go back to what I did my first couple years here and that's enter if something really inspires me, otherwise I'll be passing on them.

I was thinking we're already getting towards the holidays and years end and started thinking of 2016 writing goals and the first should be not setting any goals here. I've maxed out on pretty much anything I wanted here.

Time to set the goals more on what pays.

I'm not too certain whether I will even attempt an entry for the Winter Holidays contest. I'm going to be doing NaNoWriMo and that will be taking up so much of my time.

Plus, in spite of having more plot bunnies than I have cages for, I don't have a solid Christmas theme one anywhere. Unless the Muse whispers something in my ear...

I cannot wait for winter stories! I guess Thanksgiving doesn't count into 'Winter'? Or does it? can it? Will it get bitch smacked out of the contest?

Have a snowstorm on Thanksgiving day you'll be golden.

Despite what the contest sticky says, It seems the readers couldn't care less about theme. There is a Christmas story complete with Santa in the title in the Halloween contest and no one even said anything about it in the comments and its not being abused so go for it.

I saw that one too but thought it was a 'Nightmare before Christmas' sort of story. I didn't really read through it, I was reading other stories. :D

Well seeing you're 'talking' to me here, that means you didn't read mine:eek:
