Um, sell, since I want my books listed in erotica, this doesn't bother me much. Seems it will be hard for the reader looking for predominately Romance to sort out the offerings, though.

I did notice that a lot of romance books should have been in the erotic section to begin with. Authors trying to get their books out of the erotic cat to get noticed on the general search.

The problem, as I understand it, is with the Dewey Decimal System. Erotica, per se, isn't in with fiction, its other places within non-fiction.

You made that up without even bothering to check it, did you?

Literature: 800.003 Poetry; 800.002 Classic Fiction; 800.001 Erotic Literature.

800 IS NON FICTION, RIGHT?

Fiction is divided into Mystery and Science Fiction and Westerns and others. But no Erotic Fiction.

Yore my fool, PILOT.

Another indication of how badly Amazon is squeezing out indy erotica. That people are now posting it in other categories to try to get sales.

Like many, my sales have gone from sugar to shit over the last two years and in timing with this thread I have just posted a book there that is selling better than anything I've posted there in two years

Its Horror.

I think amazon's goal is to frustrate the indy erotica authors off their site. They can't just ban it, they do make a lot of money from it and if they kicked that many authors off at once-with no real reason-then the social media backlash of tens of thousands of authors on FB/twitter etc....would paint them in the bad light they deserve.

FYI My sheriff buys books online and arrests the authors. He ordered a book from Denver and sent his deputies to Denver to get the pervert. The court let him do it.

800 is for books about literature, dear. In it youll find anthologies and study guides and other related topics.

And poetry and fiction and erotica. (Erotica can be shelved under 823 too. If you actually published any you probably could see that.)

A reliable source citation for that? Or are you just making it all up as usual?

You just shot your original post in the foot, hot shot. LCL is erotica. Look back at your original post on this and see how badly you've screwed yourself. :D

Umm, no. It's your assertion, so it's yours to support--including the eventual outcome.

The articles generally violate LIT rules so I aint going there to make my point. You can google grady judd or kiss my fat ass.

And what are the charges? Because nothing is illegal to write about in fiction.

Philip R Greaves II pleaded no-contest to charges of distributing obscene material under Florida State Law and got 2 years probation. His was a how to guide, not published under erotica I don't think. It dealt solely with underage. If he had contested, it is likely he would have won as his First Amendment right to free speech would have superseded state law - there were no images, or his First Amendment right would have been overturned.

Amazon had already removed his work and banned him before the Sheriff's department came up with their sting - in fact it was this action in response to a public campaign to have him removed that tipped them off. There is no sheriff sat flicking through the erotica category ready to pounce on unwitting smut sellers - just one that was looking to raise his public profile by harnessing his yoke to a controversial piece of current affairs in order to progress his career.

I am from the UK so don't have an in depth knowledge of the US justice system, but I believe I have my facts in order.

Anywho, about as far as relevant to any of us selling on Amazon as NASA's plans to colonise Mars. Oooohhh...saying that, I think I have the germ of an idea for my next erotic sci-fi novella...

Yes and thanks to him that led to amazon banning 18+ consensual incest e-books that sold like wildfire. How a pedophile manual had anything to do with that, I don't know except it drew attention to the fact amazon allowed any material despite their claims other wise.

I am not sure he could have won only because the book was a manual meaning it was not fiction and it was a how to on molesting children which is a crime.

I lost track of what is happening in the current similar situation where people are protesting amazon allowing How to rape women hand books to be sold there.

Please quit feeding the troll. He's fat enough already.

It used to be easy to find a good romance on Amazon. Now, it's impossible. I don't want to see erotica or hard core porn in a romance search, but that's what's been happening for too long. I've had to resort to romance blogs to keep up with new books coming out. Amazon knows jack about romance and erotica. Or they're just incredibly lazy and stupid about these categories.

The easy solution and one that for whatever reason amazon will never entertain is an adult kindle store. YOu would need a separate password for it. That would be to stop the worries of a kid searching amazon under your account, you would have to log in every time like the e-bay adult auctions

This way people who want erotica/porn can browse away and people who just want romance, horror whatever can see it without seeing all the adult content as well

But it seems that idea has too much common sense to it.
