There is a guy at work whose cubicle is a shrine to Michael Jackson. He must be really self aware.
Or really weird.

On the GB, I think it means 'Your own opinion of yourself corresponds precisely with what (an) other(s) think(s) of you. Subject to change.'
I don't subcontract my self-worth, and I doubt you do, either. So why the thread?
I am sort of offended at the fact that Ann has decided to copy my clever avatar in order to try and gain favour from the masses.
Self esteem or self worth is not the same as being self aware. Totally different concepts. Like light years apart.

You're right, although they can be related, in some situations, imo.
If you're not self-aware about an issue, it means that you're lying to yourself about it. And there are many reasons that people lie to themselves, including low self-esteem, or clashing values (who they really are versus what they were raised to expect of themselves) etc.

So. in effect, if someone says you aren't self aware, they have self esteem issues?
Huh.
typical Ann twisting of comments
No, I meant that would be just one of the many reasons.
And I use, perhaps, a different language from you and OhThatGuy in this.
Because, imo, self-awareness/ self-esteem are not always all-or-nothing issues.
- For ex., someone can be quite self-confident about his/her intelligence, but quite vulnerable in the area of his/her looks. Ie a woman who was told by her parents that her looks are v.important. She always knew she looked hot, but her SE drops after she gives birth and she realises that she put on weight.
- Same with self-awareness, imo. Ie we all become sl.more self-aware around a few issues, as we age. Or me - I started realising that I used to be a bit of a bigot, only after I emigrated & was kicked in my ass too.
How does all that apply to, say, me?
Ask Que. He might be more able to psychoanalyse you, and he'll enjoy it, too.
I have no idea what people in here are about, other than what they are prepared to show online, aka who is funny and entertaining (*ie you), who is an asshole (tons of others) etc.
I think it is often times used here incorrectly as an insult to mean you don't think like I do so therefore you are an idiot, which to me would be ok. At least that would be accurate.
ummm… Guilty, too.
I used it as an insult here too, several times, after some users called me an idiot, and I couldn't think of anything more clever to say.
You're right. And I noticed that some people use other psychological terms with that intent, too.
I like to use the backhanded insult, that doesn't really sink in til later, like just now with Bronzeage after he called me a man, I said I have never accused him of being a man.
Tbh, and maybe because I'm biased (I enjoy your posts) these constant accusations re being a man or of not having cancer are starting to irritate me.
Even if either of them were true, does it matter? I haven't seen you make any sexual advances towards anyone, and this cancer matter is your personal business.
In saying that, I think that you're no angel, either (just like myself and many others). I've seen you being mean to others, plenty of times, too.
We should scissor...
oops, you're not my type, Ken.
(Kidding)
There's a lot of closed minded thinking here for a sexually oriented adult topic discussion forum, don't you think?
hei, I don't frequent other sex websites , to be able to compare.![]()
I had some money coming my way, and opted in on a land contract for a 3 bedroom house with a loft? How I became self aware was sometime during the terms of the agreement a forfeiture was initiated against the property, making it impossible to refinance... BIZURK!!!
