Christmas....

A time to eat, drink, and be merry
A time to be with loved ones
A time to wear a smile on one's face....

A time to reflect?

On the year that has been:
Were we the best we could have been?
Did we make good decisions?
Were we good friends to those who needed us?
Did we learn from the times when we screwed up?

On the year to come:
What can we do better?
How can we improve as human beings?


On the people who have come into and gone from our lives:
Who is worth our love?
Who is not?
Those who passed on, how can we best keep their memory alive?

Reflections, thoughts, a flickering candle tonight.

Your synthetic daffodil skin so gauche;
I see you lurking, awaiting the poor
Harmless Litster for bad Simone to stoush!
Googly eyes ablaze with crazèd madness,
Bright beak agape on savage harm intent,
Those spindly legs belie the sudden speed
With which you can fly with aw-fowl swiftness
Propelled with aim unerring, assured descent
in retribution for imagined deed.

E't midst the drone of commerce' frantic hive
Which little isle of peace it yearns to foil;

Mine eyes upon fair features light

Arrests her forward gait.
Tilted head, eyebrows raise

Well, 'blows goats' would be accurate too but even I'm not wizard enough to try to put goat, coat, stoat and bloat into a meaningful stanza.
