Southern Hemisphere Politics

I want the ancient documents.

I had two:

1. A British Almanac for 1788, the year the First Fleet landed in Australia. It lists all the significant events and politics of Britain, Europe and the Americas. It doesn't mention Australia at all.

2. A 19th century parchment document issued by the court of Van Dieman's Land appointing a solicitor in Auckland, New Zealand, to act on behalf of the court for the whole of New Zealand. The court clerk had a real problem. Van Dieman's Land had just officially changed its name to Tasmania, but the new court seal hadn't been made. Every time he wrote 'Tasmania' he had to add 'formerly Van Dieman's Land' and at the end he had to write 'given under the Seal of Van Dieman's Land, now Tasmania'.

I sent document 1 to my old school in Australia for the 200th Anniversary celebrations.

I sold document 2 to a lawyer from Tasmania (formerly Van Dieman's Land).

There are some painted figures in a cave shelter in the Kimberley(NW Australia) which depict the coming of people to the area. They are estimated to be about 40,000 years old, about 35,000 before any history was recorded in writing.:)
