But I digress. Yes, the upcoming GOP circus act will be most amusing. We'll get the usual impassioned nutzoid rants on fantasies and trivialities as the brain-dead vote is courted. We'll get vicious attacks and hard-eyed punditry and a vast clusterfuck. Maybe Trump or the Kochs will buy the next Speaker. Maybe the next Speaker will be a real surprise.

The US Constitution is a funny document. Article I, Section 2, paragraph 5: "The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker and other Officers..." Note that it doesn't say the "Speaker and other Officers" must be Members of Congress (or even alive, or human). Anybody or anything can be 'chusen' as Speaker. Rush Limbo could be the next Speaker, or Sarah Palin, or Shamu the killer whale, or IBM's Watson AI, or Jimmy Hoffa's undiscovered corpse. The possibilities are endless.
