Nervous before first story post.

My first story is almost ready for editing and I'm nervous. It's a true story about my life and I am afraid. I'm scared to let people see that part of me and see into my thoughts. As I read over it, I see a very frightened, but driven girl. I am shocked to realize many things. Any encouragement will help. Thank you!

Awww, we all write bits of ourselves into stories. I have also been surprised sometimes at recognising myself in characters I didn't think were like me, and found it un-nerving. It's great to understand that part of you, and be able to build your life with a better understanding.

It makes for a more real story, too. Good luck with it!

Remember that you know who you are, but nobody else does.

Publishing a very personal piece of writing can be challenging - you wait for the negative reactions.

But if your writing is genuine and heartfelt, I think most readers will recognise and respect that, and either comment positively or not at all. Also, don't forget you can delete comments if they are from obvious trolls - you are under no obligation to keep them.

Good luck, have faith, keep calm, all sortsa advice like that. Remember that readers want hot stories, not report cards. Autobiography is the lowest form of fiction. Much better to take what we know and sex it up enough that readers' pheromone blood levels will spike.

Hi SheaLima! No need to worry, you will be fine! I recently submitted my first story also and was very unsure of myself, since it is also based on my life. My feeling is that we are all people, some hide their feelings and others take the jump and let others know who they are. We do our best and some people like it, others not so much. If your story is true to yourself, even if other people who don't know you from Adam, take a stab at you, they unfortunately are blind to who you really are. Stand strong, be confident, and hit that "submit story" button!!! Best of luck to you, I'm sure that your story will be great! Just a side note: I just had an anonamous person tell me that my story was inaccurate and to do my homework!!! They told me that I had no idea about service dogs and disibilities... I've been blind for 25 years and have had a guide dog for nine of them! I think that I did enough homework!!! Take care...
