That's not a bad collection, I've got 9 myself. Sadly, all reproductions.

Yeah, but authentic antiques are really expensive and not easy to come by.
At least not ones in good condition.

I actually don't mind owning modern made "replicas" (always found that an odd term since a lot of them are originals by that company).
You can get some excellent weapons of extremely good quality, and in some ways, better than actual antiques.
For instance, something like a longsword, bastard sword, or great sword/claymore.
You can get them a lot sharper as replicas than an antique would ever be.
Not because the antique dulled with age, but mostly because those large, European cross-shaped swords were never all that sharp to begin with.
They were looked at as tools of war, much like guns would be now.
They didn't bother sharpening them so much because it was unneccesary and, in case it broke, the effort wouldn't have been wasted. Just get a new one.
Although, personally, that's why I find most European styles to be less interesting.
Very basic styles, and not much to look at, unlike, for instance, a lot of Asian swords.
Big, heavy tools most the time instead of heirloom pieces.
Anyway, rambling about swords, must stop. :D

I prefer European style blades. I only have a couple with a functional edge , the rest are more decorative (mainly because I have a kid in the house and have them on a mounted sword rack.) I have a traditional claymore, a basket hilted claymore, a bastard, a broad sword, and a couple of rapiers. Probably the most expensive one is a Marine Corps officer's dress sword that was giving to me by my father, another sword collector (he prefers Asian blades).

But I'll leave it at that so I'm not highjacking the thread further.:D

Bucket List:
Get in better shape!!
Visit England, Ireland, Scotland!!
Go to more live concerts!!

Sexual Bucket List:.....;)

1. See the Ocean

2. Publish a novel

3. Kiss someone like it's the last breath we'll ever take and I want to share it with her.

1. See the Ocean

Having always lived near the shore, I can't even fathom never having seen the ocean.
I'm sure that's perfectly normal for millions of people, but it just seems impossible that someone could never have been there when I could literally go every day.

Now I wonder what I've never seen that others would consider commonplace.

Travel to Scotland.

Ride in a hot air balloon.

Take an Alaskan cruise.

Do all of the above with hubby.:heart::heart:
