Story Idea about those born with Retardation

Retards Need Love Too is the title

It's a take on Cinderalla inspired by a comment (joke) I made that was taken a little too seriously by uptight people. I'm thinking I just might roll with it.

So this retarded person has three step siblings & a step parent that wants nothing to do with them, but keeps them around to clean house, mend clothes, etc.

A prince or pincess has a ball to find a husband/wife

Of course, like in Cinderall, the retard is invited and the step parent says okay so long as all the chores get done and they have an outfit. After the retards invisible friends (who turn out
to be real) help them get dressed, the step siblings destroy the outfit.

Fairy god mother comes, gives the retard a make-over and a 'normal' mind.

The retard goes to this ball, which turns out to be an orgy, but not a free for all, people have to seduce each other and the retard is a smooth talker. Gets laid, nails the prince/princess, has to
run off at midnight, the hat they were wearing turns back into a helmet ....

On the way home the retard gets lost, becauese they are retarded and can't remember the way back, perhaps gets taken advantage of (a whole new adventure along with the regular story line) ...

finally gets home ...

the prince/princess runs around having people try on the helmet, gets to the retard's home and of course, it fits! And it is prove that True Love conqueors all ... save for a retarded husband/wife, that's just to much of a burdon so the Prince/Princess marries one of the step siblings.

Thoughts? ... Edit: Thoughts on Plot Ideas?

Love it! For a fitting ending, the Prince(ss)'s new non-retard mate is a ruddy asshole and the retard's fairy godmother blesses them with a sound mind. The ex-retard then raises an army, conquers the kingdom, and puts the now-ex-royal and their step-family to work in the stable. All's well that ends well.

As a reader, tbh, at first glance I would be quite horrified about such a subject (even more than any other more controv. stories about minorities).
But on the other hand, this could turn into an excellent story, if there is sufficient humour and tenderness, and the author values his protagonists. (as I suspect is the OP's intent)

I want it to be a likable story, so I wouldn't write it with cruelty ... though the ending might be a little simpler, maybe a beauty and the beast take where the protagonist meets someone like them on the side adventure and after their rejection, heads back ... share a kiss ... magic enhances their minds or .... they just live happily ever after.

I think you should write it.
Personally, I am both fed up with some of the PC-nness and hypocrisy from my 'real world', and I also root for stories with less PC flavour or with a bit more 'out of the box' thinking.
Therefore, -but only if the story was written in a respectful/affirming manner towards the main protagonists- I think it could actually turn out to be an original/interesting story. It would be a walk on a tightrope, though.

It's not top on my list, but I'm liking the idea more and more with each thought ... I'll write some notes, ideas, plot it maybe .... see what happens.

Because there is nothing wrong with word and I'm not sympathetic to the ultra sensitivity that's been around for the last few decades and growing worse all the time.

If people don't like the word, I guess they can down vote the story, although how often I'll use it in the actually story, I don't know ... this idea came from a joke I said as stated in the first post.

I'm with you, EDM. I'm sick to death of people who are looking for something to be offended about. If you write a story showing a retarded person in a good light, with respect, and with optimism, then they are completely full of crap to object to you using one of the non-sanctioned words to describe that unfortunate person. Who are they to dictate what words you use? Your attitude, your understanding, and your good wishes for the less fortunate people of the world is much more important than marching in lock-step with how certain people think you should be describing them.

After endlessly debating the ethical merits of the subject, has anyone else thought about how such a story would/could/should progress? I suggested a non-degrading just-desserts twisteroo. Who can/will come up with something better?

I thought about that, but that seems to me that that could make the story a lot longer than I envisioned ... but you never know, you get that point when your writing down your ideas and suddenly it's a direction you want to go.

Good point.
However, before people start posting their own ideas (perhaps not myself, since I'm not too creative + not an author),
- I wonder whether the author should first come to an agreement with other posters as to what level of ID he has in mind.
- Since the things that the person can or cannot do or understand vary across IQ ranges. Also, certain ethical/medico-legal issues would be more or less important, accordingly.

First of all, what?

Second ... he'd be like a Forest Gump ... gullible, naive, understands things, but not the full scale of what's going on ...

Third ... length of story? Who knows, it'll be done when it's done, but first it has to be started ...

I think I know what the OP is going for. It's along the lines of some stories here that feature people in wheelchairs or some other disabilities. The disabled can have hot sex too...is the theme there

I thank that's what the angle is here that even the mentally challenged(I have shied away from using the word retarded although its what many if us grew up saying I have tried to evolve) can enjoy sex as well

So don't think Everyday man is trying to be classless or tasteless or insensitive, but I think its a really tough topic and I think most people would see it as mocking that person.

IN a similar vein I once watched a porn clip-or started to-where a girl was watching a mentally challenged "son" for someone. The actor was really playing it up in an insulting way, but I thought the angle would be when the "father" left and the girl started blowing him he would act normal as if he were faking

But no the actor continued to act...well "retarded" as she was sucking him and it was offensive and disgusting and I clicked off. Takes a lot to offend me.

This story I think has the potential to get that reaction from people even with good intentions.

I do find myself wondering how many of the non con losers read this and said "I know how about we gang rape the retard?" but are to afraid to post it. That should tell you how squicky it could be, even those slugs don't want to touch it.

But I know they have thought it because, well because they are scum.

Yeah, there will be no 'gangbanging of retards' ... rest assured.

This is my idea so far, briefly ...

You got the Cinderella start ... Step siblings, I'm thinking 3 instead of 2 ... where there will be some voyeurism, some exhibitionism and some fooling around ....

Then of course, my 'seduction orgy ball'

Then he gets lost (I'm going with a He because I'm more comfortable writing a he here).

... while lost on his way home ... I throw him into the Red Riding Hood Fairy Tale, the Beauty and the Beast Fairy Tale and one more? ... maybe the Billy Goat's Gruff (the animals will actually be people, but the troll can be some kind of troll) ...

He finally makes his way home ... tries on (I said helmet because it made me laugh) but whatever article of clothing he lost and gets rejected, but that spurs him back toward the Beauty and the Beast Scenario and he finds his True Love ...

It is a lit story, so there will be lots of sex ... sometimes with him involved, sometimes not

Hypoxia's idea is possible, but I'll have to see about the Army raising, but I don't think my guy is the vengeful sort, but you never know .... maybe the lady in the Beauty and the Beast scenario was cursed by the the present day princess or the princess' mother in the Cinderella story.

In a few places, the word "retard" very offensive, so I'd say you use it judiciously.

Otherwise, great idea.

What if the retarded girl was tricked in to having sex, and come to find out orgasms bring out normalcy in her for a duration, the more orgasms, the longer she goes unretarded, like a sexual lazurus pit. It's not like she can wear a pair of panties with a built in wireless rabbit, it's the mixing of pheromones, her natural lube, and blending of the ejaculate that does it.

There was a movie, late 70s or early 80s, called The Other Sister. It's main plot was how a mentally handicapped woman fell in love with a similarly afflicted young man. The movie didn't do so well, but I don't think audiences were quite ready for that sort of thing back then.

It was touching at times and also had some hilarious "retard humor" in it. The place it seemed to fall down was where it got all twisted up in the "that's not socially acceptable" aspects of the two young lover's romance.

I think if someone is skilled enough at writing they could pull something like this off. I also think it would be important to keep the humor light and maybe make the rest of the story about sexual discovery.

Oh and when I watched this movie I so wanted to "do" the retarded woman character.
